Question for Canadians and New Zealanders

The above two countries were today named as the number 1 and number 2 respectively best places for UK ex-pats to live.

Okay, that is the easy bit. Clean air, space, health, education etc etc

I would imagine that almost 100% of them are white and speak English and the survey - done by a major UK bank, found that almost half of them earn over £50k whatever that would be there.

Pretty good I would imagine.

This is the hard bit you may be able to answer.

The number 1 country for integration was Canada with 72% managing. NZ must be less then as are Australia and the US.

So what exactly are these guys doing? How can it be possible not to integrate?

I know 1 million Brits living in Spain make no effort to learn Spanish or their culture but Canada, NZ, Aus and US?

Have you lot changed languages overnight or something?

PS: Reading the above I do not mean to imply that non white people don't go to those countries from the UK or get a hostile welcome. Just saying the majority are probably white.

    I'd love to answer your question, but I don't really understand what you're asking.

    As for demographics, I think if you kidnapped and blindfolded an American from the Midwest, then transported him to Vancouver and dropped him on Robson Street and pulled the blindfold off, he'd probably think he was in an Asian country.

        That is funny. I think most of us Brits would love to be kidnapped and 'dumped' in Canada.

        In the 1960's there was scheme whereby you could emigrate to Oz for £5

        If that was advertised in the papers tomorrow there would be one heck of a queue to get out of here.

        Kids are being shot and stabbed in towns, animals are being tortued and dumped in bins etc etc.

        I am actually a positive person and love living here and have no desire to move, but something is starting to go seriously wrong.

    You imagine wrong. The majority of immigrants to Canada
    are Asian not white. Here are some stats. The latest available
    are 2009.

      No I don't imagine wrong.

      Where immigrants to your country mainly come from is irrelevant. The question as stated in line one of my post clearly states emigrants from the UK. They will not be Asian, they will be English.

      Point 2 was only 72% integrate into your society as per NatWest Bank survey (a major UK bank)

      My question was what are the other 28% doing?

      There are 600,000 UK ex-pats living in Canada. 28% would be 168,000

      I can imagine that they would not integrate in Chinatown for example but I doubt that is where they have gone to live.

      So that was the question.

    Where did you get these figures be an interestng read.I do know my area alot move here and are of 50+ age and buy homes alot of homes that are bed and breakfast.If you look up on search does not mention Canada but other countries so where did you read it?

    Why ask those intending to leave (and, thus, with little actual experience of their intended destination)?

    Why not just see how many expats actually live in particular country?

    Would that not be a better indication of the "top destination"?

    I think when referring to the language as the 28% it's the french language aspect not english as most I have met speak english quite well so my take is the french-canadian as it's called language.
