Not only is "I Am The Walrus" my favorite Beatles song, it's my favorite song of all time!

After that, the next ones that come to mind (not necessarily in order of how much I like them)

    "Hey Bulldog"
    "What's The New Mary Jane"
    "Taxman"
    "Run For Your Life"
    "Within You Without You"
    "Good Morning Good Morning"
"Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite"
    "Money"
    "No Reply"
    "Wild Honey Pie"
    "Savoy Truffle"
    "Cry Baby Cry"
    "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"
    "Baby You're A Rich Man"
    "Blue Jay Way"
    "Mean Mr. Mustard"
    "Polythene Pam"

Okay...I better stop before I list their entire catalog.

    Rock on!

"Well you should see Polythene Pam... She's so good-looking but she looks like a man..."

"I read the news today oh boy... Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire...""

That's my favorite band of all time, for sure, so it's really hard to pick favorites.

I know the words to all of their songs.

      Great List Michael:

That is a very interesting list:

Wild Honey Pie- short ditty, but pretty cools song anyway, George Martin said it should have been a single album. But Paul McCartney, Its the Beatles White Album its a double album and that is the end of it.

Cry Baby Cry-Now you hit the head on the nail, Michael, I love this song. Great Piano Arrangement.

Baby Your A Rich Man-How Does It Feel To Be One Of The Beau ti ful Pe ople, Know That You Know Who You Are, What Do You Want To Be-Lyrics by John Lennon. I love John Lennon Singing on This Song!!!

Taxman- Is a great song. This is exactly what is happening right now with taxes.

All the songs on the list are great!! Thanks for the comment Michael!!!!

Michael, I'm looking at your favorites and I notice that, for the most part,
they're songs with a harder edge to them, leading me to believe that between
Lennon and McCartney, John was your favorite.

John had the edge and Paul was more of the balladeer and pop writer, though
there are exceptions in both cases such as Paul's Back In The USSR.

And yes, if you listen to their songs, you can tell who wrote which (even
though all songs with the exception of the Harrison tunes were credited to
        Lennon/McCartney)

In fact, there was a report released many years ago (not sure where to find
it now) that breaks down all of their songs into who wrote what.

Many of their songs, Paul would write the A section and John would write
the B section. If you listen hard enough, you can tell.

I've pretty much made a study of the Beatles since the 70s. I learned just
about everything I could about the band. Much of it was quite fascinating,
especially the songwriting stuff. Towards the end, they did very little together.

Anyway, none of this answers the question the OP put to us. I lean more
towards the Paul stuff but do like some John stuff as well.

My favorites, in no special order:

        Penny Lane (Paul)
        Eleanor Rigby (Paul)
All You Need Is Love (John)
Yesterday (Paul...interesting story about this one I'll tell at the end)
You're Gonna Lose That Girl (John)
        Please, Please Me (John/Paul)
        Martha My Dear (Paul)
        Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight (Paul/John)
You Know My Name Look Up My Number (John/Paul)
        Something (George)
        Hey Jude (Paul)

        That's enough for now.

Okay, Yesterday story real quick. Paul was humming the tune downstairs
while eating breakfast and the original lyrics went something like...

"Ham and eggs...All I want today is ham and eggs."

Don't know how true it REALLY is but that's the rumor that has been going
around since the 60s at least.

Maybe Paul has actually confirmed this somewhere in the many interviews
        he's done over the years.

Anyway, there you have it...some of my favorite Beatles songs.

The original lyric for Yesterday was "Scrambled eggs, oh my baby how I love your legs".

He went to the studio that morning and told John about dreaming the tune and lyrics.
John told him to fix the lyrics and said, That's YOUR song, man".

@ Steven - Generally speaking, I think you're right, but there are plenty of exceptions. I think it has more to do with liking songs from Rubber Soul and later, but again, there are a lot of exceptions.

Okay, Yesterday story real quick. Paul was humming the tune downstairs
while eating breakfast and the original lyrics went something like...

"Ham and eggs...All I want today is ham and eggs."
That's close to what I've heard too. Except I heard that the real working title was "Scrambled Egg". Not only that, but Paul was convinced he had heard the melody somewhere else. He was worried he was subconsciously plagiarizing, so he went around asking people what the song was...once he was convinced he wasn't plagiarizing, he finished the song.

I'm not 100% sure how accurate that is, but that's my understanding of it.

Speaking of working titles, "With A Little Help From My Friends" was originally "Bad Finger Boogie", and that led to the Iveys changing their name to Badfinger.

@ Kurt - "Come Together" would probably be next on my list above.

    "Two Of Us"
    "Don't Let Me Down"
    "I've Just Seen a Face"
"She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"
    "Tomorrow Never Knows"

    Rock on!

Yeah, scrambled eggs is another one. I don't know if any of this has ever
been confirmed by Paul but boy I'd sure love to find an interview, if one
exists, where he does explain how Yesterday got written.

I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and it seems to be true. (Assuming the citations in the article are accurate).

I've had several discussions about who was the best rock-n-roll band ever? The Beatkes, or The Stones?

Several rebutles I got I was "I don't know that I consider the Beatles to be a rock-n-roll band.

There are many Beatles songs that crush that line of thought.

    So, I submit this as my closing argument;
