Well, if you ever find that affiliate board come back and and post it here. I have a friend here in the States that is looking for that, as well.

          TIA

WOW! What, were you simply born in Germany? Did you move early and just never learned it?

I speak German. I had a german teacher once that told me that she and her husband knew French, German, and English, but decided to only speak, and only teach, ENGLISH to their kids. Interestingly, later the kids learned the languages, and one was in international law or some such. But that kind of thing is a shame.

My Great grandmother, who I met, spoke german and english. It wasn't until almost 40 years later that I found out she spoke German. I ALSO found out she ALWAYS spoke it with her husband, and maybe german friends, but never when anyone else was around. Pity I didn't tell her I was interested in the language.

Steve your post reminded me of this.
My fathers parents came from Germany and always spoke German around the house when him and his sister where growing up.
Many, many years later when I was a child my aunt would visit for a month every summer and would only speak German to my father. By that time in life he had forgot most of the German language and it would piss him off.
My aunt knew he had forgotten how to speak German and that was the reason she only spoke German to him.

WOW, he should have kept it up. 8-( TO THIS DAY some nice things start out in GERMAN. I should talk. I FINALLY got something I ALWAYS wanted, a LONG audio german vocabulary CD set, and I only listened to the first disk a few hours so far. Of course, even when I first heard it I knew almost all of it. The other disks get progressively harder.

I REALLY like things like Die Spur furht nach Bayern, but audio forum only had a couple, etc...

But it really is a good language to keep up on. And contrary to what some think, it can be a nice sounding language too.

I wish he did and I wish I learned it
I've had problems learning languages my whole life and always wanted to learn German. All my father remembered (and taught me) was good morning, good night, the devil again, and like a goose on two legs but not as wobbly. All I remember now is good morning, good night, and the devil again:rolleyes:

              Hi
I'm American/German and live/work for a few month every year in both Atlanta, GA and Koblenz, Germany.
The IM scene in Germany is very small and I'm sorry to say full of substandard/old US IM-product rip-offs. Still, a few Germans are quite successful with various IM products, but they tend to be English language because of the market size.
German IT companies seem to excel mainly in plagiarism, just ask Facebook, eBay etc.

Hey... I lived in Germany for two years, south of Cologne. Love
    your country.

Yes, the only German member I know of is Veit Schenk, he's in
    Baden-Württemberg. I'm on his mailing list. He's a good guy. I'm
sure he could help you find what you're looking for.

Have you tried searching Google Deutschland?

Sure. I only found some seo boards, some blackhat boards, a few adult-webmaster boards and that's mainly it.
Would love to find something like the german version of WF

      Cheers

Of course I have no idea if the interest in IM in Germany would be enough
to create a forum such as this.

But you could always start your own IM forum there at home.

    I am from Germany too.

Wouldn't it be quite nice to have a social group for German Warriors?
I'd open one, but I think my Post Count is too low for that.

    Cheers

For something like that, it would probably be best to start your own. No offense meant AT ALL! It is just best for German Speakers to deal with boards in the German language, and is more proper. Hey, if you start one, advertise it here also, ok? BTW one of the largest foreign countries that doesn't have German as a foreign language, but has a LOT of german speakers is the US.

Also, if you write enough posts that are ok, like this one, but in the main forum, you can put a sig on your posts, and advertise the board.

Yeah, I didn't think there would be anything as big, or as helpful as WF there for IM. Oh, and I would like any info you get also!

Germany is relatively small. If you tried to search for austria, switzerland, and other german speaking places, you might find some nice places. All speak hochdeutsch for business, and most are probably pretty similar ethnically.

One board has german as the 13th most popular language, with only 91M speakers. For comparison, English is 2nd with 618M, Spanish fourth, with 376M, French is 7th with 213M. So you might expect a lot of things to be smaller. For what it is worth, a lot of the other countries probably don't have the income and infrastructure Germany has. Cross referenced with GDP, Germany is FOURTH! Cross referenced with general likelyhood of doing business, German is probably 3rd. The other two languagess are English and Japanese.
