I love that show! There is another one too called Shark Tank. I'm not sure if it's Canadian though.

Try posting an ad in Variety magazine. Some big time investors go there looking for high risk/ potentially high yield projects to invest in. What is an "Angel investor"?

I owned a firm that specialized in securing funding and investors for businesses (primarily tech but not "internet companies"). Never did anything in Canada. However I can say be very leery of either angels or venture, they can easily words contracts that give them control at X point or based on certain performances (you could be a dollar under what was projected and bam, you lose control of the company, seen it happen plenty of times).

Just make sure to do due diligence on the parties you speak with.

For a quick overview, Angels are generally just individuals with money who invest for the most part, in early stage companies for seed capital where there is an exit strategy for venture or other funding thereafter. not all the time though, depending on the niche and what your doing they may well stay on and bring in funds from other friends etc to continue. However for the most part, Angels like hedging their risk as your dealing with a single person usually and not a company/group like a Venture firm with much larger funds, which is why 90% of the time they only invest around 100k-500k and get others to make up the difference. Pretty rare to see an Angel fund a deal north of 1m as now your entering the Venture's normal range of 1m+.
