Who-ever she is doesn't matter. Just by reading the heart-felt posts by so many Warrior members I can tell she is loved so much - not just by her family, but so many of the Warrior members too. If she does get this.............(If not, please post it to her...)

Kim,

Stick in there, I know it's horrible at the moment and you've probably been through all the treatments - which just make you feel even more sick, but you will come through, even if it's terminal, you can still have a laugh.

Do you still laugh? I know it's a stupid question, but that's what has helped me. I know you might not feel like laughing right now but I found laughter in the funniest of places....

Do us both a favour - reply to this and I'll send you some jokes to get you through your chemo/radio or whatever the treatments they're giving now - but I want you to send me a joke first......

So come on, make me laugh!

David.

Kim is a man. You've composed a nice message but it is, er, seriously off pitch in a number of ways. It would be advisable to read about who Kim and his situation before offering heartfelt encouragement, just so what is said is about the actual situation vs imagined. Kim has a great sense of humor, so I don't think he'd be offended, and your heart seemed to be in the right place.

Some nice thoughts indeed, but there really are enough clues almost everywhere to at least let you know I am not of the female gender.

Oh no! I feel such an idiot! Sorry Kim - I assumed you were female, only because it's generally a female name in the UK (Kim - short for Kimberley) - I really need to get clued up....

Thanks Thunderbird for pointing this out to me - your right - I should have looked into Kim's plight a bit more - I just got a little carried away on the spur of the moment (I blame it on the chemo!).

Sorry Kim - if I'd seen your avatar before I would have known. Anyway, I'm going to look up some posts and get myself up-to-date (Thunderbird has made me feel like a right arse!).

      Best Regards,

      David

I can't speak for the UK, but didn't Heysal tell you in another thread? Kim is a name that can refer to EITHER sex in the US. HECK, look at michael, which has traditionally ONLY been a man's name, and michael learned!(A WOMAN)! MY name, steve, has traditionally been ONLY male, but look at steve from "father dowling mysteries". SHE'S a WOMAN! There is a song here about a boy named SUE! What about Marion? SOUNDS female! LOOKS female! Maybe HE had problems, because he used a DIFFERENT name in the movies. JOHN WAYNE!

And maybe you can learn a bit before cracking jokes.

I kinda thought you would have used "Stevie" as an example of a name that could be used for both men and women.

Well, the only time I have heard of stevie used for males was as a kid. Apologies to the little kid who's teacher once said "Stevie, you're a WONDER", and the name stuck as "Stevie wonder". Sorry, I only NOW remembered THAT one.

Frankly, the closest I have gotten was 2 customers that called me STEVEO!

BTW, my REAL first name is stephen. And YEAH, there is stephanie or variants for females.

However, it's isn't "your" case we're discussing...We're discussing MY comment about using your own name as an example.

Now, if we want to discuss your case and if I'm proving it or not...We'll first need your answer to: How many other women named Michael can you name?

This is "important" because your position is that you could only think of one male Stevie, so I'm assuming you know more female Michaels, otherwise your actually disproving your earlier point with your last point.

I got two male Stevies, how many female Michaels you got?

I know I have heard of others, but Michael lerned was the real STANDOUT! The first I had heard of for michael that was spelled and pronounced the same.

As for who's point it is, I have refered to name/sex, date/month, and other things with enough variance to cause trouble. I try to use the handles instead of pronouns if I am not sure of what pronoun to use.

OH, and I wouldn't have remembered stevie wonder if not that he had so many songs that were popular, and I heard the story of how he got his name.

Of course I know Stevie Nicks. Absolutely brilliant. All the Fleetwood Mac stuff I love....

I spent 10 years learning to finger-pick. Just when I thought I was getting close to what these guys could play, I lost my middle finger-tip! (It was a stupid accident - please don't mention Django - that guy was a genius! and hats off to Tony from Black Sabbath).

I'd just learnt 'The Boxer' and a few other Simon & Garf songs, plus many others, but then I had to go back to using a plec. I'm knackered now for learning some more Mark Knopfler tunes!

Oh well, it's not going to stop me trying to play....

            I believe it was Scouser.

Dalgleish has done a great job hasn't he. You could be well up there next season. Imagine if you had had him from day one this season.

The What Ifs of sport eh?

              Hi Dan,

Just watched the news - we've got Kenny for another 3 years! Maybe he can instill the winning spirit back into the team and put us back on top (Man U are reveling in the fact that they've taken our record - ouch!)

I met John Wayne's nephew in Beijing, where he was studying Chinese. He's one big dude with hands the size of shovels. His uncle did too. My father once met John Wayne himself in Bolivia. He mentioned that he had humongous hands. John Wayne et al were in South America shooting scenes for a Western.

Kurt - the link doesn't work....But it's very funny for those who remember it....if not, watch the film (Airplane).

Glad to see some people in the forum have a sense of humor! (That's 'humour' here in the UK - my spell-checker is turning me into an American!)
