What is wrong with this programme?

Why do I have to log in time after time when viewing or trying to reply to topics?

I get nicely thanked for logging in.

I get entertained, informed, enraged or whatever by what I read.

I try to post a reply - only to be told I am not logged in - even though I still see my welcome at the top of the page.

When I log in again, not surprisingly, any post or reply I have written has been deleted so I have to write it again. It has got to the stage where I write my responses in Word before trying to post to the forum stream.

There is a 'cookie timeout' on these boards, and after a time of non activity (say you are reading a thread or composing a post) you will disappear from the 'online' status. The board thinks you have gone away. When you next click something, it has forgotten who you are and you'll have to log in again. If you'd selected 'remember me' it would have automatically logged you back in seamlessly.

If you are the only one using the comp, there is no need to bother logging out. It removes you automatically after the 'timeout' (usually about 10-15minutes) but next time you return you are automatically logged in. If you insist on logging in and out each time, just check the Remember Me box and problem solved.

    Hmmm.

Tried the 'Remember me' check but I still find that posting more than two words gets me logged out.

I know people have short attention spans but "programmes"?

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.

Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!
