My husband and I found a litter of feral kittens only a few days old about... 8 months ago. When they were about 6 weeks old we caught them all and found homes for all but four of them. We still have three of them and I'm really glad we kept them. Three may seem like a lot of cats but they keep each other company and love to play with each other so I'm glad we kept all three.

All of them are indoor cats... they only have the shots they give to indoor cats. They recently started having stomach issues and I was worried so I upgraded to better food. That wasn't helping much so I took them to the vet and they didn't find anything wrong... then one day they all got outside and the first thing they did was run into the lawn and start eating grass! I panicked and got them back inside remembering how sick my dog always got when he ate grass... but to my surprise, for the first day in weeks none of them seemed sick. After some research I found out cats actually eat grass to ease their stomach and help prevent hairballs!

Well, since then I've been growing pots of grass and bringing them inside for the cats and they love it! I found some seeds that grow several kinds of grass that cats love and they seem happier and healthier than ever!

Honestly, I would be lonely without them while my husband is at work. Their names are Runty, Jazzy, and Mowm.

Runty was the runt of the litter but is now twice as big as the rest! He chews on EVERYTHING and is the reason I had to buy a wireless mouse and keyboard. I'm still trying to figure out how to get him to quit chewing on cords. Mowm was the first we caught... we asked her what she wanted her name to be and she meowed at me. Her favorite thing to do is find my hair bands and play fetch. She will bring a hair band back to me to throw for hours on end, but once she is tired she will sleep on my lap. Jazzy is skittish and doesn't like people... that makes it such a reward when she decides to socialize.

I always have a cat on my lap while I work. I actually find it relaxing to be able to play with them while I work.

So, do any of you guys have kitties as well?

      Amanda -

Here's a lesson in animal health and behavior for you - will ease your mind.

Animals often know when they have a stomach or intestinal problem and their reaction to it is to eat grass in an effort to ease discomfort.

Eating green grass usually leads to light vomiting - there is a reason for pets to eat grass.

For cats - they like green veggies like grass and indoor cats will often eat grass when let outside. It's this nutritional requirement that results in cat food designed for indoor cats because that food includes the greenery cats need or crave. If you want to see a nutty, happy cat, grow some catnip:p

Have the cats had a fecal exam to test for parasites? That's the likely reason for stomach problems. Roundworm can be bothersome and uncomfortable - hookworms can be deadly. Both are easy to eliminate quickly with a pill or worm meds you put in their mouth with a syringe.

I've had animals all my life - currently have 2 dogs and 7 cats.

Yay Cats! Love, Love, Love them!

I currently have 4 indoor cats, but this number fluctuates during kitten season! I show my Ragdolls, one of my girls has just received her Champion Status, and now has a lovely sash and her status listed on her pedigree.

We have an outdoor enclosure attached to the house via a tunnel which has a cat flap in a window. I have a couple of big pots of cat grass, cat mint and cat nip, and they all like to have a bit of a chew on it occasionally.

Here are some photos, hope you enjoy them

This is the cat's exit to the enclosure:

      The enclosure:

My Persian, Cindy, loves to rest in the tunnel and block the other cats path:

My gorgeous blue bicolour Ragdoll kitten, Poppy:

Poppy's mother, Rebel as a kitten, she is now a Champion, she is a blue point Ragdoll:

Our 18 year old cat died last summer before we moved out west. I don't think she wanted to move out to Cali.

The neighbors have a cat who hangs out here every now and then. We have 3 dogs but they're use to living with a cat. Here is the neighbors cat, sitting on top of the fence looking into our backyard:

One time she jumped off the fence and knocked it down...

        Bad kitty.

I have four dogs, and sometimes babysit a fifth. I also have recently had a litter of kittens we had to bottle feed, and a lorikeet that needed hand feeding.... anything that comes into the vet surgery where I work that needs support for a little while, comes home with me. I have the most patient husband in the world! :-)

Amanda you sound like you really love your cats and I can relate to how they keep you company during the day and when you are working.

We have a dog and a budgie but when our last dog passed away last year, I really felt the loneliness in the house when my husband was at work and the kids at school. Pet's really do become part of the family!

Do you have some pics of your cats? I've just started a website for my dog because I'm going to start showing him Jarracada Hunter Rhodesian Ridgeback he is just 8 months old but he's huge now. I've only just started the site so the photos currently on there are when he was a puppy.

@cat mother Your cats are gorgeous and I love the setup you have for them, that's fantastic!

We all like animals here. I have a dog and his name is panther. I hope I had a picture of him when he's still alive. Yes, he is now dead because of our unfriendly neighbor who shot him.
