What do you think about the saying that end of the world is coming? Do you actually believe this will happen soon? I think there is no such thing as end of the world it is just an idea of of giving people a second chance to change their way of living from doing wrong thing. But instead preparing people for something mysterious event to happen.

It may not even be for such a noble reason. Some people freak out with things like the Mayan Calendar ending even though it's just cycling again and not written down. Others do it for money such as Harold Camping and his Rapture Theory. The truth is, no one can predict the exact time of the end of the world unless a meteor is barreling towards us and we can calculate how many days until impact, but that would depend on seeing it close up.

This is a nonsense things to discuss for people who want to die already like their telling that the world is coming to its end.

People who believe the world is going to end soon are the same people who think they are in danger of walking off the edge of a flat planet.

      For them it's real.

I wish they'd pick up their pace and run...

I think the greatest conspiracy theories are those that sometimes make sense... with the earth here several billion years (if that's believable -- who knows? Just cause a few scientists, who are constantly disagreeing with each other, say so?), we are the only ones to have inhabited it, over the last few thousand years?

Or have there been multiple populations, lasting 3-4 thousand years each, with a single cataclysmic disaster occuring that forces everything to start all over again, in cycles? Sitchen says that Niburu (badass comet) orbits around every 3500 years and brushes really close to earth with each passing, sometimes causing worldwide flooding, ice age, fire -- whatever, possibly tipping the earth end over end, wiping out the existing lifeforms, starting everything all over again.

This may explain some of the marine life fossils that are found on some mountain peaks... how else would they have formed there, unless that area was once underwater?

Just so happens that the next passing of Niburu is supposedly within the next few years. Who knows? Where can you get a straight answer, and would you ever believe it or want to believe it? If it were true, would you want to know?

Then again, some say that the stone Mayan calendar ends on 2012 because the calendar maker simply could not squeeze more information on his rock without needing an even bigger rock. And delivering these stone calendars to homes and businesses was a pain in the butt as they were quite heavy. And mounting them on refrigerators was no easy task either, you know, with those tiny refrigerator magnets... sometimes the calendars would fall off and really mess up a nice hardwood floor.

LOL, ok, I know, serious topic... but I needed a bit of that comic relief!
And were the Mayan calendars distributed back then by Insurance companies as free gifts, like they are today? :p

In an infinite universe, even things of low probability must occur (actually infinitely often).” However, by that same standard, Jagannathan adds, quantum physics dictates that it is theoretically possible to turn on your kitchen faucet and have a dragon pop out.

Why does everyone talk about "the end of the world". Why don't we predict the end of humans and assume the world will keep twirling. Been there, done that...

Typical humanoids - we think the world can't exist without us?:p

Amazing isn't it, the worlds been ending since humans developed the brain to think for themselves and here we are thousands of years later still saying "The end is nigh".

Whose that loon who said it would end on the 21st of May? Very old chap (possibly mildly senile).....anyway, guess what? It didn't happen but thankfully for us, the big man upstairs has informed him (and just him) that we've actually got an extra 5 months. The world will in fact now end on the 21st October.

I went to a betting shop to try and get the odds on it not happening and the bookie told me to p*** off.

Why would ANYONE bet that the world is going to end? If it weren't here, they would never collect! Sad, but TRUE! Want to bet it will end? Run up ALL your debt, and do all that you ever wanted. THEN, you would win. Of course, if it were for God, that could hurt your eternity.

You know that the Mayan's never predicted the world would end on 2012, it was predicted by a science fiction writer, and he said that it would happen in 2003, and when nothing happened, he tied in the myth of planet X or Nibiru with the 2012 myth. There is no reason to worry about the world ending on that date, none of the claimed "science" behind it makes any sense whatsoever. Most of the theories are actually quite comical really.

It's just journalists and media trying to get people into reading their poor articles. I think that pretty much sums it up, and there shouldn't be a doubt about anything.

Of course there might be a disaster of a greater proportion any day now, smaller ones happen each week somewhere around the globe, but you really think someone can know when any of it will happen...?

Well, we must be clear as to what we mean the end of the world.

The earth will be here forever. The world as we know it will end, and by that I mean all these greedy marketers and sellers trying to make a buck online.:p

No, but seriously, remember the story about how the earth was once a paradise, and man was perfect and all the animals obeyed him? Close your eyes and imagine yourself in that world.

No more going to a boring job from 8 to 5, no more spending hours in front of a computer planning your next money making scam *cough* scheme. No more needing money because we've done away with the this tired old money system that guarantees poverty to billions and success to only a few.

You want food, you eat, because the earth produces it in abundance, you want shelter, you have it because you and your buddies choose your plot of ground and you build your house without having to pay realtors and developers and construction workers who only care about you because you have some money to give them. You and your friends build your house and you help them build theirs because you genuinely love and care for them and they the same for you.

No more turning on the T.V to see a 2 year old baby in Africa crawling around on the dirt looking for food, for water, for someone to help her all because that 2 year old baby does not have what? money.

No more reading in the newspaper how a sick, deranged human being took 11 children one at at time into a barn somewhere over the course of several months, rapes, then beats their head in with a baseball bat. Cause the wicked will be gone.

You might be living quite content where you are now, quite removed from evil, destruction and pain, thinking this world is great and nothing's going to happen, but that's because you are one of the few, and the majority can't say that, and they are hoping for something, anything.

Look around, things are not getting better, they are getting worse.

This world will end, how could it not?

I supose if you keep saying it, one day you will be right. I will say it every year and then get my kids to say it every year and pass it on to their children and so forth. Eventually as chaos reigns and the last few humans draw their last gasps. Someone will say those Beveridges knew this was gonna happen.
