So, does anyone use this?
https://squareup.com/
  • I don't use it, but someone sent me the link a few weeks ago to check it out and it is definitely very interesting.

Obviously, for small business owners and salesman this has enormous potential. I don't find 2.75% particularly outrageous considering there's no monthly fees, and I especially like the fact that it pays directly to your bank account daily.

My only concern is what a customer would think if you pulled it out in front of them? Given the amount of credit card fraud nowadays, I have to say if someone used it in front of me, I would get pretty darn suspicious. I haven't seen any tv ads for it (or any ads, for that matter), but I think it would go a long way in allaying people's suspicions if they would start showing it to the general population so they know it isn't some sort of 'criminal tool'.

That being said, I wonder how long it will take before someone figures out how to use this thing to either double charge, or save the customers info on the SIM card.

That is very interesting actually. My grandfather owns an RV Park and Trout Farm and has been losing a lot of business because he can't find a good way to accept credit cards.

Sounds too good to be true . . . It would be helpful if you could manually enter credit card numbers. My local client base is less than 5% so this wouldn't help me too much.

HOWEVER, I'd love to set my admins up selling it as an affiliate!

One, you can enter the cards manually, but there is a higher processing fee for that.
Two,I did not see nor do I believe there is an affiliate program.

Freakin' Google, man. After reading and commenting on this thread, every ad I see on every site I go to now is for Square. Crazy.

I think this is what Apple retail stores use.

There is generally a REQUIREMENT to match the MAG info with the card, so you KNOW that at least part of the number HAS to be readable. So yeah, you COULD get fraud. But that is true EVERYWHERE!
