I Can Guess That Number

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add
the age you will be this year, and I can guess the sum of those numbers.

Seriously.

Do the math and run your curser over (highlight) the hidden text below....

Hidden text= [ 111 ]

Well you are wrong. Think about it.

Everyone pretty much has two ages in any given year so adding it to the year you were born will give you a 50:50 chance.

I was born in 1972 and am 38 right now but will soon be 39 so that gives 110 now and 111 in a couple of months.

By the way Bill, if you have kids do not tell them this cool trick to play on the Maths teacher tomorrow

      This is from experience.

      LOL Dan,

I didn't ask for the age you are, I asked for the age you will be. And if you have already arrived at that age that's all you will be this year.

        Damn it Bill.

If you hadn't copied my post I could have quickly deleted them both before anyone saw!

        Dan

PS: This would be a cool trick to tell the kids!

(Haha) That's amazing Bill. Like you said, it came to 111. What's the secret to the trick?

Well - I am assuming everybody adds up to 111 then.

    Not so amazing.

I have seen this before and thought it was just sooooo far out - who knew.

But reading the thread I can see no matter what year you are born or how old you are it somehow always must add up to 111 -

Since I have the same number as someone 38 - I can lie and say I am 38.

    Good trick!

The year I was born must be a "constant." And when applying Bill's calculation, I get 111. However if I add "30" I get 113. So I'm guessing it must only work for a percentage of people.

        I'm lost with that Jonathan.

You get 111 but if you add 30 you get 113?

        Well I'm 38 and get 111 but if I add 40 I would get 113 too.

        Explain please.

        Thankyou

        Dan

PS: I don't recall spending this much time on Maths at school

          Hi Dan.

When I follow Bills calculation (birth date + next birth number) I get "111." However my birth date never changes. So when I add "30" instead of "28" (my current birth number) I get "113."

Therefore I think it's a clever mathematics trick which only works for a certain percentage of numbers.

Right. You mean it only works for 2011?

So that would mean that it will always be 1xx where xx is the curent year 20xx.

So in 2013 it would be 113 and 2017 it would be 117.

            And yes it is.

            Well done. Thanks Jonathan

(Haha) I was just thinking it probably has something to do with '11. Thanks for the explanation, Dan.
