        Hey Jim...

I was given a similar test in jr. high. It actually taught me a lot and to this day I'm much better at reading instructions than I was before.

It also gave me inspiration for a test-taking technique I developed that helped me get better test scores...Simply, when taking a timed test like the SATs or a final exam, I would quickly scan the entire test and answer all the questions I knew quickly. I wanted to make sure that I at least answered all the questions I knew before running out of time. IMO, there was nothing worse than wasting time on questions I didn't know and running out of time to answer the easy questions I did.

  • This is very similar to an actual test I took in 7th grade.

They started testing us so often in high school that I purposely answered every question wrong on one of them. I got called into the office for it, LOL. Got told I couldn't do that and I told them that was a stupid thing to tell me if I already did it. If my dad hadn't have been the Superintendent I would have been fried for that one. LMAO. God I hated high school.

      Hey Sal

The test and similar are actually used by certain Gov depts and Industries here in the UK.

The 'Can you follow instructions test' (which is what it is) actually starts with the job ad. There are normally 2 in the paper.

One will say Foreign Office and have the who we are, what we want blurb and somewhere will be the one line that states you are to send your CV to the address on the ad in the top left hand corner of page 3 for example.

The ones to send their CVs to the FO in Whitehall go straight in the bin.
