What Brings Tears To Your Eyes?

I always note with fascination when something causes tears to well up in my eyes. It is an involuntary physical reaction. Real things in my life don't have this effect on me. Here's a story did cause this odd reaction in me:
South Korean family facing deportation over autistic son allowed to stay
It was specifically this part of the first sentence that did it to me:
"the centre of a growing public protest in New Brunswick."

What makes tears well up in your eyes?

That was just a joke. I don't think I would be able to give an accurate definition of "City Council" without Googling it, never mind running for it.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

Last night NOBODY showed up here after around 8:30 pm my time (Eastern USA), the place was a ghost town.

All those "What's your favourite" threads are killing the joint.

Onions, then little orphan animals in pound commercials, then footage of slaughterhouses, then the thought that humanity is just a plaque upon the planet, *sigh* can we say "everything" and be cool? :/

Anything to do with helpless little animals - happy - like that video of the guy setting his pet lion free and going back a year later and the lion jumps up and hugs him. That was a real tear jerker.

When something is sad it just knots up in my intestines. Frankly - there's not much that does bring me to tears.

So Bill - tell us. What's your favorite "what's your favorite" thread?

I wonder what health hazards go along with that job? Foot mold? If aromatherapy is supposed to have psychological benefits, what psychological damage would be inflicted by stinktherapy?

Suprisingly, i'm not that sensitive. i don't cry easily over things. but if there's one thing that would make me cry, it would be too much anger. you know when someone just irritates you so much and you can't do anything but get really really mad? that's it! Poor Adelaide Escorts, :'c

This is really trite of me, and I won't try to justify it, but again an involuntary physical reaction. I was just watching a show called MasterChef, in which spiring chefs present their culinary attempts to a panel of three judges in an attempt to win a chance to compete for a big cash prize and the title of Masterchef. Whenever a contestant got at least two votes and a chance to compete, I got the sensation of tears about to well up.

Do real things in my actual life have this effect on me? No.

Just this weekend, my beautiful 11 year old daughter was in a highland dancing competition. She works so darned hard, and just loves to dance. She was stoked to come away with a 3rd place trophy, and a 4th place trophy. So she didn't win the top prize. The sheer delight on her face showed that what she had achieved was enough for her, and I will admit that it did choke me up a bit. Ahhh, gotta love our kidlets.

Audrey - moments like that are priceless. I firmly believe that children benefit enormously from experiences which bring a feeling of personal achievement whatever field of endevour it is in. Give your daughter my heartiest congratulations. As someone born with two left feet I am always in awe of people who can dance competently.
