What can be done about someone that bailed out of a deal after taking full payment?
Yes they are a Warrior Forum member but, don't respond to PM's
After about 3 months into the program they simply disappeared.
Not a lot of money just a great let down from someone I had trusted.
Is it possible to make a claim to the payment processor after 3 months?

If this was a private transaction thru email correspondence .....
It has nothing to do with this forum, whether they are a Warrior
    or not.

However is it was a WSO or other offer through this forum,
you should post your question or concern in that WSO or other offer
    and in that thread.
    Hope this helps.

      I beg to differ.

If they met on this forum, then the forum is involved.

Sorry, but that's like saying I run into you at the grocery store and convince you to get me 5 grand and I dissappear. With your logic, the grocery store is involved because that's where I talked you into handing over the cash.

Oh, and besides, Kay posted the other reason right above this post.

Tell that to the next person who makes a connection with the scanner throught this forum.

I'm saying other people have the potential to be scammed, if the scammer is allowed to remain a member here, not that the forum has any responsiblity for getting the money back.

            I mentioned two things,
One ,the forum rules, and two an example of how your logic is faulty.
Saying that, that doesn't mean I disagree with you.
But as I tried to point out, people can be scammed any and everywhere.
Personally I would welcome any member that got caught scamming someone to be banned.
But bare in mind that there are legal implications for accusing someone of doing such a thing,so I think, and this is just my personal opinion, that this is part of why there is a no naming policy.

I had someone from this forum "bail out" with nearly $20k in a deal gone (very) wrong nearly 5 years ago. I took legal action (which was complicated, since I'm in Ireland and he was in the U.S.)... got some of it back... then he vanished off the face of the earth and hasn't re-surfaced to this day.

    Poof!

    Gone...

Except for notifying Admin (help desk) so the person cannot repeat the scam, the forum is not involved. Doesn't get much clearer than in the WSO rules.

      4. If By Chance You Do Get Scammed By Someone The Problem Is Between You And Them. Not The Forum. Not The MOD's. And Not The Forum Owner. If you get scammed you deal with the person that scammed you. That's just the way it has to be. You have zero protection in here just like you have zero protection on the rest of the Internet. You can charge back on them, you can sue them or you can post about them all over the Internet. Whatever you do is entirely between you and the seller.

It's a shame, but one way you can try to protect yourself is by noticing how many posts the person has. The more they have, the longer they've been (and participated) here, the less likely they are to take your cash and run.

Not saying it's foolproof, but I'd be REALLY wary of someone wanting $5k with 10 posts to his name, I don't care how great his story is...

I would also, in the future, read that person's back-posts and
research him or her online. Is the person interested in making
a useful contribution to the IM world? Not that appearing to be
a good citizen means a person is on the up-and-up, but if you've
spent awhile building up a body of work promoting your good name
you wouldn't normally want to risk it over one deal.

So check up on people who want to get into business with you,
especially if they want you to "commit" to the partnership. Ask
for personal, professional references even. You don't have
to be goofy about it. One guy wanted me to pony up 5 grand
a few years back to do some seminars. He had a big story about
what a seminar big-shot he was. He really had me going and
I was ready to go ahead. He said he was in tight with Bert Decker
of Decker communications... so I called them up and they had
    never heard of the guy.

While I never found any dirt I also found little evidence that
the guy had an internet presence (even though he claimed to
be into video marketing - which at the time was kind of advanced
stuff). So I just dropped it and he stopped pursuing me.

I think the real story was he was on the outs and wanting to
find some young "partner" to finance his revival of his speaking
career. Would he have taken the money and run? I dunno...
but the way he phrased things he was clearly hoping for
an exhange of CASH. It felt like a missed oppotunity because
he was a great salesman... but in my gut it didn't feel right and
at the time 5k was big to me.

Thanks to those that gave helpful replies with a side order of empathy.

To others that had to remind me of the rules, I have read them.
I didn't break or even slightly bend them.
I try to live by the rule Do No Harm and believe I did so.

Since I carefully, intentionally mentioned no one's name nor any specifics I felt it was an innocuous enough question as I simply was asking FOR HELP on where to turn. That is all. I had no intent to do and expose'.
Since the wso ocured back in June, posting anything in that thread, if I could find it, would be less than useful.

Apparently others agreed and I thank them.

I've been here a lot longer than my profile lists and I have great respect for this place but, really, some people need to get another hobby.

    One Barney Phife was enough.
