I Was Too Young
Recently, my friend Peanut Head sent me a few CDs with song compilations
from June of 1971. Yeah, 40 years ago.
A lot of the songs, that I didn't really like then (I was all of 13) I have a new
appreciation for as I'm realizing how incredible they were by a musician's
standards.
At the time (13, remember) I was probably into the more pop or bubble gum
sound and couldn't really appreciate the more complex pieces of music or
accomplishments on a performance level.
One example...Chicago's "Free". Today I listened to it for the first time in
probably 40 years. What an incredible drum solo just to start the piece.
Yeah...I was too young.
Thank God I'm not anymore.
