Which Warrior Wrote the Red Ring of Death eBook?

My son comes in with a sad look on his face last night and says, "Mom, I have the red ring of death."

I'm about to call 911 envisioning bird flu symptoms, etc., when he pipes up and tells me it's his XBox360.

Less than 1 year old. ALL of his Christmas presents pretty much - from the gaming chair to the pile of games - is for this system - and now it's dead?

I'm annoyed.

Someone told me a Warrior wrote a How to Fix the Red Ring of Death eBook - anyone know where to find it?

    Hi Tiffany,
There are a couple of "red ring fix" ebooks on clickbank. If you go to Xbox 360 Repair - Xbox 360 Repair Guide (non aff), you will find one from warrior Chris Jones. I've never read any of the repair books personally.
    Hope that helps,
    Kevin

I have a good one. - But check to see if you have warranty left. Microsoft extended most warranties to 3 years. Give them a call first.

      Hey Gary!

      Questions:

1.) Is it something a 16 yr old boy can do? I'm not tech savvy so forget about me doing it.

2.) Do I need to buy anything else?

3.) Will we be screwing ourselves out of a warranty if we mess with it and it doesn't fix the problem?

      Thanks!

Hi - yes it is somewhat technical. It involves a torx wrench, a heating gun, and some thermal compound. So you'd have to buy that stuff, if you don't have it.

But opening your xbox will mess up your warranty, so if you still have a warranty, go that route first. Microsoft will fix (or at least try to fix) the 3 red light error for free.

        Good luck.

      Tiffany,

To fix your Xbox i would recommend these steps:

First you have to find out what the problem is!! One red ring means a Hardware Failure, when a failure of a hardware component occurs, Q4 will flash red. Usually, a two digit error code is displayed on your t.v.(such as E74). Two red rings mean Overheating, when the temperature of the console unusually high level, the console will shut off the CPU and GPU, runs fan at top speed and Q1 and Q4 flash until the console has cooled off. Three red rings means a General Hardware Failure, when a failure of one or more hardware components occurs, Q1, Q3, Q4 will flash red. This is kind of like the one red light error, but there is no error code on the t.v. Four red rings means AV Cable Error, occurs when no AV cable is detected due to it not being plugged in or a more serious problem, all four lights will flash red. This error code is not displayed on the consoles with a HDMI connection....

It happened to me too, no need to buy a guide. Just see how many rings there are (red) and type that into youtube and get some help. If you cant do anything or dont want to risk anything. You can xbox support and they will ask you to send it in and they can fix it for $X

  • I don't play x-box, but "Red Ring of Death" conjures up a picture of kids dancing around a May-pole, singing...

"Ring Around the X-Box... Pockets Full of Pop Rocks...."
