I'm in the living room checking out the morning news and I noticed both of my dogs walk out of the kitchen and down the hall.

I immediately jump up and rush to fill the water bowl. Then it struck me that you can forget dog training - my dogs have me trained.

I knew they were headed for the toilet bowl - and I knew why. Sure enough, water bowl was empty. It made me realize how many times each day I open a door or fill a bowl or pull out a dog chew or treat based on the body language of the animals. They hardly ever bark but so often they way they move screams "Hey Laaaady".

Ever think how many things we do are almost unconscious - and wonder how you were "trained" to do that? I think there's an article in my mind about this trait.

As far as the dogs go - I'm a good human and well trained.

Kay as soon as I saw the thread title and author I knew what it was about.
My cat has me trained pretty well also.
I'd say it makes you wonder whos in charge, but I think we both know that answer

On my bulletin board above my desk I still have an old ad that caught my fancy over a year ago.

It's a photo of a bulldog on his back with his feet in the air and the text is

"Halfway through our 3-mile walk I got tired. You carried me home. That's a good human."

Sounds like something I'd do! It's ok - the world can use all the good humans it can get.

So cute - You are so blessed to have the space to have animals that own you (and the patience, dedication, etc).

I love dogs so much - but I will have to live vicariously through pictures, TV, YouTube - random petting on the street -- because whenever I think of getting a dog (or bunny or cat) I have to remind myself about the responsibility - and that would for a dog (#1) include walking him several times a day following along with a 'pooper scooper' since I live in an apartment complex.

I guess even though my son is way grown and long gone, I still equate the two things and remember how restricting the responsibility was.

I guess I am more selfish than I am loving.

Please give your dogs a special kiss and hug from me today.
