      Official what?

It is only a summary of a statement taken during an investigation which as you will note wasn't followed up.

Aliens uh? Good thing Portugal is so small these freaks just choose other countries to scare. Probably it's just a language issue, they try to say "We came in peace" in Portuguese and they simply give up.

Cool thing tho, good to know Aliens do exist - at least WE know the truth, right?

Actually, It was ALWAYS official! First as something this letter might report, and THEN as a weather balloon. They could NEVER deny it, and never tried to. IT HAPPENED! They ONLY question was what exactly IT was, and WHY! THAT is why the story changed. It is FACT that they were out there. It is FACT that they recovered something. It is FACT that they moved it. Those are things that they always admitted.

This is NOT from an official source! It is an antiquated document in an archive that has been disclaimed. It is a one page office memorandum that states what has been said. AGAIN, it could NEVER be denied, and they never tried to. The ONLY question was was the account honest and factual? Meaning was it BELIEVED to be true, and actually true.

Well, one thing is true. They found something. Dated 1950. So is it coincidence that our technology took off so fast after that? I would like an official statement on exactly what the research they did on the things concluded.

Umm...maybe the thing that crashed was a RESULT of OUR technology of the time. In other words, it's not a cause and effect thing. It's intertwined.

It's not too difficult to understand plausible explanations, especially when framed in the context of the Cold War. My guess is that we were working on an ealry prototype of a predator aircraft, and it was related to a weather balloon.

Conspiracy? Cover up? I think there was and still is to some degree, but that's not evidence of alien visitors.

You're right. It would have to either have a VERY powerful force field around it, or be made of some FANTASIC element, in order to come here at near warp speed. There is NO force in the solar system known to be strong enough, and certainly no such material. No alloy would work, since its constituent parts would just disintegrate!

And one thing that gets me, is that the computer would have to do complex multivariable calculations MUCH faster than the speed of light! I mean THINK about it! You have a ship going faster than the speed of light, it has to track EVERY obstacle and make sure NONE will be in your path when you get there! There may be an obstacle THOUSANDS of miles away from you going AWAY from your course, and you STILL have to track it because it may hit another object tat is not near your course and divert it into your path. And EVEN if YOUR ship could stand the impact, it may change the directory of that object so it may wipe out part of your planet or something. WHO KNOWS?

Getting here could be VERY complicated!

Anyway, such a vehicle would be near IMPOSSIBLE to crash.

I agree with this, Michael - and Steve. It doesn't have to be other-worldly. Who knows who was making what. There is also a possibility that it is alien craft. I don't discount aliens as non-existent. We're in space so why is it so strange to think someone else is, too? I fully believe in aliens and think we have been visited - but I do not believe that our politicians are actually lizard aliens in disguise.

As far as stuff like this -- that's why I say I don't really want to know that something was found - I want to know what was found out about it. I think it's high time those in charge of this information quit treating us like a bunch of children and just tell us what was going on. Even if it is aliens - a lot of people won't believe that anyhow, no matter who tells em so. LOL.

A lot of "technology" we have today couldn't be reverse engineered without the basic knowledge needed to do so. Computers DO predate the technology used today. They were thought about seriously in the late 19th century. In 1944, a computing device was actually shipped to a customer. The first NON MOVING PART transistor like component was commercially available around 1923, based on work done by EDISON when he was playing around with his lightbulb! The SOLID STATE transistor was created in 1947, and based, in part, on a product commercially available in 1906 based on a discovery made in 1874!

About ICs? Well, almost ALL of the passive components date back WELL over 100 years! I just illustrated the development of the ACTIVE components! Yep, hard to believe that SO much came from a little discovery that was more a curiosity and a childs toy than anything considered significant discovered OVER a CENTURY ago by a german physicist named "Ferdinand Braun". HECK, when I was a little kid I bought a crystal radio set with some "blue chip stamps"(AH, the good old days! 8-/) that had as a KEY part a germanium diode that was basically a miniturized form of the cats whisker diode which was DIRECTLY related to that discovery by FB!

As for technology developed AFTER that? Well, MOST technology today, whether that $10 MP3 player, or that million dollar computer is really VERY old technology! I mean they had to come up with a way to mass produce transistors. Change the doping pattern, and you have a darlington transistor! Essentially an INTEGRATED CIRCUIT of sorts. add resistors and capacitors, by changing the doping patterns, etc... you can have CPUs! When LIGHT met its limits, IBM figured out how to use XRAYS. I don't think THAT has hit its limit yet.

So saying that a computer today is more complicated is like saying that "war and peace" is more complicated than the owners manual on the MP3 player. That may be true, but they STILL use the same parts! Nether book would be any harder to print!

So I would LOVE to agree with you, but the facts just don't agree. If a person around 1930 saw an IC, like those made today, they would have a HARD time figuring out HOW it was constructed, what it was supposed to do, etc... And would aliens have used the same materials WE did? BTW we now have the ability to basically design a whole computer into a piece of plastic. If a person in the 30s saw it, they might feel it was a logo, language, or something else, and it would be even HARDER to reverse engineer.

OH, and the first diodes and transistors shown here were VERY crude! If a maid came by, she would be likely to throw them out!

A lot of development comes from the military due to budgets and yours is in the $billions, perhaps $trillions over the years I am sure.

And one consequence of a war is that those budgets are ramped up even further.

So during WWII the amounts of money spent on improving and inventing new things to get a military egde was colossal on all sides.

Many of the scientists working on these projects found themselves in the US after the war and were simply funded to continue projects that seemed feasible and would give an edge to the US.

But that is why you would see a technological spike from the 1950's. Simply lag time. Not just in hardware but the field of medicine as well.

Slight juxtaposition but medicine loves war.

This pattern can be seen throughout European history and then into the US.

So whatever was developed in that Military Zone (big clue) during the Cold War, it is quite right not to mention what it was just because we have a culture that feels it is owed an explanation about everything.

If the air force investigator was not lying, then it was alien.

There is just no way to explain the three bodies of three feet tall. Either he lied or they were aliens. Problem is, we don't know if lied or not. Why would he lie? Who would lie about something like that, oh wait, a drunken solider.

Yeah, the release is not new information as it has been rumored for years but to see it in an FBI file, that's pretty amazing stuff.

Its not proof but it is evidence.

One reason why I CAN'T believe the now official story from the US military is because they used the old transposition theory, and it is LUDICROUS! So WHAT is the "theory"?

THEY say that the event around 1945 was confused with an event around 1954 and that around 1954 they tested some kind of parachute or whatever by using DUMMIES and that the dummies were very short, and bluish colored!

That does NOT fit because people KNOW they are talking about an event that happened 9 years earlier. And WHY would the military test parachutes that way? The dummies were too small and light for any meaningful test. And WHY try to hide such an event. And WHY in the 1950s? NOTHING fits!

Ok, I'll tell you a secret.

Back in the 90's I saw the weirdest thing in southern Portugal, in the Algarve. I was in a golf course, middle of the morning, clear day, blue sky. I was sitting bellow a pine tree, looking ahead to the horizon and saw what looked like a disc, coming left to right and going up a bit.

My mind told me "hey! didn't knew there were a shooting range near the golf course!!"

Then the disc stops, hold position for a couple seconds, sun light reflecting the disc, and then SHHHHEEHHHHH goes UP straight to the sky faster then anything else I saw in 39 years.

    I kid you not.

So yeah most probably we have that technology. That, or something extraordinary is visiting us, cause that THING was completely unbelievable.

The weirdest thing I ever saw in the sky appeared right over an air force bombing practice range so I'm not too doubtful that we have some strange stuff that they aren't telling us much about. But who knows - maybe it was just some friends visiting from elsewhere? I highly doubt I'll be the first to know what that thing was all about.

And then we have the usual question: IF we have this technology, why is it just used (most probably) by the military? I know the answer, but when you think about it, it could be so cool to have trains doing 5K miles per hour or airplanes going from Sidney to Paris in 3 minutes.

      Ahhh I keep on dreaming.

That's the whole thing that is so bad about information suppression, Steve. Enough word of what is being suppressed gets out and 1. nobody knows what to think or what is reality, which allows for some strange points of view to proliferate and 2. Nobody believes the real story by the time it surfaces.

Yeah, that 2nd one is what really scares ME!

Just today, I was listening to a conservative talk show host and he had a VERY upbeat song playing as an introduction introducing NEW threats by the pakistani taliban. They said it happens everyday, etc... And I was thinking about how I would love to do things to make terrorists just look stupid, like presenting fake threats, etc... so people wouldn't overreact as they do. That is the REALLY bad part about the "terrorism", people make it seem like the terrorists are doing so great.

On the FLIP side, germany, during WWII, aimed some weapons at france by using news reports in france!

But overused, it would be BAD!

OH, I wanted to be fair. Really, the miltary takes credit for MANY things they had a MINOR hand in, or nothing at all. Ever see MIB? There is a scene where they say that even CDs came from aliens! I hate to burst their bubble, but they were talking about CD like technology when my father first went to IBM. That was around 5 DECADES ago. Of course THEY were talking about using a CRYSTAL, much like you may have seen in many sci fi movies. And they had HIGH hopes! Well, use an EMULSION instead of the crazy idea of a solid crystal, which automatically lowered the power requirements, move the emulsion on a disk, instead of the laser, which reduced problems with precision, and wait until someone created an LED to replace the laser TUBE, to reduce everything else, and VIOLA! It really isn't much different from an old recordplayer, which is similar to edisons dictation machine! SURE the rings are concentric instead of spiral, and it uses a laser and light instead of a magnetic pickup and needle, but it is VERY close.

Even VELCRO! I mean if I had the desire, etc... and it wasn't developed yet, I might have made velcro. It really wasn't that obscure of an idea.

Now APPARENTLY grace hopper was more a manager than a designer. Listen to her speak, and it really doesn't seem that impressive. And COBOL is not even something that is really good for the military. And it wasn't the first high level language ANYWAY! Apparently, FORTRAN was! But who knows, something may predate IT! BESIDES, Cobol is WAY too wordy, and encourages bad coding which BELIEVE ME, EVERYONE took advantage of. We are STILL trying to live that down! OH, it was flexible and powerful, but some things should have been left out or obfuscated!

WRONG! If we are to believe them, and we MUST, because it is FACT, a report was made about that sort of thing! and I don't know WHY people don't believe in UFOs! We have had them for THOUSANDS of years, really millions or billions, according to some! Name me ONE creature on the planet, just ONE that can identify every flying object! I'll admit I can't!
