Default What's Your favorite Quote?

First of all, Happy New Year! 2009 is going to be amazing!

I LOVE Inspirational quotes...I collect them. Here are a couple of my favorites that I read everyday:

"A ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."
- John Shedd

"It's a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it." - W. Somerset Maugham

"Whatever you are, be a good one." - Abraham Lincoln

What's your fav?

I do like that one.

There are a few that are significant to me. "Remember this -- very little is needed to make a happy life." Marcus Aurelius

When I was just about 10 or 12 I read that when you are asleep, it doesn't matter much what kind of room it is in. I would certainly prefer clean and comfortable, but the quality or expense of the interior design, decorations, furniture etc don't make the slightest bit of difference. That still seems powerful to me (hundreds of internet years later).

And how about this one for something to think about. "Maybe when you die you come before a big bearded man on a big throne and you say 'Is this heaven?' And he says 'Heaven? You just came from there'.” Kirk Douglas

I have a quotes page on my simple sig site. I have been collecting them for years and when I first got online it seemed like that was what the net was for. The Kirk Douglas one above is the first one and the whole page does have a perspective.

There are 10 types of people, those that understand binary and those that don't.

"I'm not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed. And the number of times I succeed, is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep trying." -Tom Hopkins

I live by the quote above. I recite it almost daily.

"When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
And the road you're traveling seems all uphill;
When funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to laugh but have to sigh;
When cares are pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must - But "damn it" don't you quit!"

LOVE

1 Cor 13:4-8
Love is patient,
love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always perseveres.
Love never fails.

----
this is my favorite verses in the Bible and it really inspires me. I believe that there is no such person as loveless because Love always exist.

When I was quite young and new in my career my manager and I were walking and talking, he was teaching me something or other....I started to lag behind in terms of keeping up with his walking pace...he stopped and turned to me and said:

"Don't walk behind me I might not lead. Don't walk in front of me I might not follow. Walk beside me and be my friend."

I loved it and I'll never forget it. Not sure who originally said this but to me it's the quote from the boss that cared.
