My family and I enjoyed the opportunity to watch the Space Shuttle blast-off. It was amazing and we all were in awe.

    It's kind of sad that I never got to see a launch before they retired the program. Could you still feel the energy from the launch that far away?

      Yes we could, it was incredible. I had seen many launches previously from the West Coast of Florida and on a clear day.

      Seeing the launch from approx 11 miles away was breathtaking.

    You are very lucky.

    I heard from someone that all of the exhaust gases condense and turns to rain for a couple of minutes.

    Is that true or where they joking?

      Hi Dan,

      Yes, we were indeed lucky. My son loves space and the Space Shuttle, so I owed it to him to see the last launch.

      From 11 miles away we didn't see any rain from the exhaust gases, maybe right at the launch pad it rained.

      Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
