Need advise on website extensions

I currently have a .com website and I want to localize it and start promoting it in other languages.
I need your advise on the following options (mainly from SEO perspective):

1. Use subdomains and leave the ext. as .com (will be: es.SITENAME.com, de.SITENAME.com etc). That way I don't have to buy new domains.

2. purchase a domain with the following ext: SITENAME.com.es

3. purchase a domain with the following ext: SITENAME.es, SITENAME.fr etc.

Thanks.

    Hi gamez,
I would recommend using subdomains before purchasing a new domain - If you have already worked on one domain, built a reputation, backlinks etc there would be no need to do this all over again as you'll probably find you'll be competing with yourself on google - unless you decide to send your traffic to your individual sites for there language which I would find equally pointless as you could achieve the same goal on your subdomain!

I am not an expert when it comes to subdomains and promoting your site in other languages as these are both things I haven't done myself, but seeing as the post was made 3 days ago and I found it on Google by absolute fluke I figured I'd give you some input!

Always get a second oppinion in any case!

    Tom
