Hey Warriors,

Now with the benefits of technology, we don't even
need to know hwo to sepll anmyore...

Okay so that was a joke.

But really, I notice a lot of time I make spelling errors
like "commissons", "opprotunities" or "expierence"
and my in-browser spell check just cleans it right
up for me.

It's excellent really, although I always suggesting
proof-reading for grammar

Truly,

I wouldn't say so. I take a lot of pride in my written work. Because of that I don't really feel that spell-check has made me all that lazy. Doesn't mean I spell words correctly all the time, but my documents rarely need much "spell-check work" once completed.

Spell check has made it look like I can spell. (Shh.)

I have questions on how important spelling in English really is. In the beginning of written forms of the English language, spelling was arbitrary, largely depending on who was doing the writing.

For me, clearly communicating an idea is more important than spelling or grammar. I would even characterize spelling and grammar as largely artificial and contrived restrictions that needlessly constrict creativity. As for the effect of technology on writing English, it seems to have actually inspired rather than hindered productivity and creativity.

When it comes to intellectual fitness vs mental laziness and flabbiness, I suspect that laziness in math due to calculators and computers is probably more problematic than spelling.
