As we know, Amy Winehouse just passed away at the age of 27. Here's 15 other rock stars that died at 27:

    Kind of bizarre isn't it?

I knew about Joplin, Hendrix, and Morrison.

Another famous musician who died at age 27, although not a rock star, was Hank Williams.

A couple of us just posted some Hank Williams songs...And he should have been on the list, even if he wasn't a "rock" star.

It kind of makes sense when you look at it logically, most of these rockstars make it big really young like at the age of 21, a pretty vulnerable age in my opinion, when I look at myself at that age, I still didn't know who I was.

Learning things the hard way, girls I thought I loved and loved me, friends who I thought were friends, trusting people to easily, common mistake for young people.

Put a 21 yr old kid in the lime light, with fame and money, and they will have a hard time finding out who they really are, they will see only the glorified rockstar image that portrays them, leaving the door wide open for the wrong crowd and people to enter, feeding their false sense of self and ego.

It must hurt hard when they've been screwed or have the occasional wake up call, doesn't surprise me they escape to addiction and self destruction.

I'm thinking if I were in rock, I'd be extremely careful throughout my 27th year. That's pretty eerie. I'd like to see what someone who knows something about numerology has to say about this one.

Or don't get started in the industry until you're 28.

That would be fascinating. There's definitely something "going on."

There are probably just as many rock stars who died at age 28 as there are who died at age 27.

    this is so crazy...

CNN mentioned Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, and Cobain, but they left out the rest of the list.

I expect you'd find they began abusing substances at about the same age, too. It's not really a comment on "age 27" - but a comment on how long you might expect to live that lifestyle and get by with it. Others have cleaned up their act for a few years here and there so last longer.

In reality we can probably find a number of musicians that died at just about any age. But 27 has some very talented people that died way before their time.

IMO, Robert Johnson and Jimi Hendrix were two of the three most influential guitar players of all time, with Chuck Berry being the third. And Robert Johnson was murdered and it's possible Jimi was too.

Call me ignant...but I haven't heard that conspiracy yet Kurt..and if I had, I sure don't remember it.

      Care to elaborate?

Get outta town Kurt...:p (I'll explain that American idiom to Sumit later)

Whoa, how did I miss that one?

That's the kind of conspiracy theory I can 'get into'.

As we all know at our age, human greed knows no bounds.

Unless I missed it, it didn't say whether Michael Jeffrey ever collected.

It did say he died two years later in a plane crash.

But knowing insurance companies, was there ever an investigation?

As a bit of a sidenote, but on the same page...there's a guy (private investigator) if I remember right), that has a site on Kurt Cobain...convinced he was offed too.

I read the site and what he said (to me) had some sense to it.
Just by the by, I questioned that one from the get go.

The Jimi one I've never heard of...not with that much detail anyway.

IMO...What gives it credibility is the ER doctor saying Jimi's stomach, lungs, hair and shirt were full of wine, but his blood alcohol content was very low.
