Why do a lot of members of WF wrap their lines manually so that everything fits into a narrow column? Is there a reason to do this on the forum?

I'm talking about
typing sentences out just
like this. Wrapping them at
some small width even though
there's no reason to.

I think your example was a bit extreme but it seems to happen less on the new
forum. I've noticed a couple of regular members not doing it now since the
cross-over, but some still retain the habit.

I know there's an argument to do with screen sizes and scrolling, but personally
I might do it for pure visual appearance and readability.

The page width for posts is pretty wide here and that can look a bit
cumbersome if you don't manually adjust the r/h margin.

I've used the tactic here because my paragraphs are short and they just
looked skinny and weird (technical, grammatical terms)

While I registered back in 2007, I only occasionally lurked, I did not start posting until the new forum. Did the old one do something where this was beneficial?

        To be honest, I dunno!

There were width options when creating posts, something I know I didn't use, but I can't remember exactly how they worked. It was such a long time ago!
