I have.

Tastes nice but the smell makes you feel sick.

I had heard it described as the 'Heaven and Hell' fruit.

Tastes like Heaven and smells like Hell.

That was a good description.

Thank you, now I know what that fruit is.

In the US most grocery stores are part of a chain of stores, and there are only a few dozen chains in the entire country. They never carry fruits and vegetables from other countries.

Occasionally there will be a store owned by an independent grocer.

There is one independent grocery here just north of Cincinnat, Ohio that is the size of 7 large supermarkets all put together under one roof. The place is called Jungle Jim's. He has quit a website by that same name.

Jungle Jim's store carries grocery items from everywhere in the world! They even fly in fresh fruits and vegetables from all parts of the globe, and I have seen Durians in the produce section of "the Jungle" as locals call the store, and did not know what that fruit was.

I would have tried to just cut it in half. Your video shows me how to open it.

Hi Jimbo.

Perhaps, for first timer that just see the durian, will not like with it's stinky smell.

For me, I've been eating Durian since I'm at 4 years old.
My family did have a durian tree, and whenever we smell the fruit, we know durian is nearby.

Don, you've to try it.
If you watch my video on youtube, you'll find out, other video from US people that eating durian too

Anytime you've trouble opening Durian, just let me know.
My durian was pre-cut, so it's easy to open bare hand.:rolleyes:

By the way, here my simple advice, if you want to buy a durian, you need to find a Malaysian or Indonesian or Thailand that is used with Durian taste.

Sometimes, irresponsible exporter, just exporting the low-quality Durian

My Malaysian friends do say it tastes like ambrosia...(I'll take your word for it.)
but that fruit from another planet sure has some good self defenses I must say...
It tries its best not to be eaten!

Best use I ever found for a durian was as a weapon. I always got on a bus when I was carrying one, no matter how big the queue!

Who's to say? Many americans have heard of limburger. Dansk Ost is said to even be WORSE! If you want cheese in denmark, DON'T get dansk ost(aka danish cheese), unless you LOVE it!
