Hello warriors,

I know that I may be posting this in the wrong section but since there are alot of experts here, I may get quick responses. I've been writing a document and I saved it last night and even though I cant remember the size, it was 10 pages on ubuntu 10.04 LTS's open office. Today I tried opening it and I'm shocked to see its blank and 0 bytes. This was a very important job for me please help! what can I do??

I don't think there's any way to recover data from a 0 byte file. It's happened to me before too. Not sure it it's something I did, or the program.

I hate to say it, but I believe carl is effectively right. It probably reused the directory entry, so the only hope would be looking for lost chains, etc... And THAT would be difficult as it was likely a formatted file, and probably only leave you with part of the file. Of course, there is no tool really provided to do that.

10 pages is a lot to do without making a backup. Did you make one?

    Hi Jean,
Have you tried to look under "File" "Recent Documents" ?

You may have not knowing, saved it under a misspelled name or added an extra space to the end of the file name.

Just a thought. I have done that before.

    Have a Great Day!
