You all definitely should visit one day. So much to see and do and for the most part the ppl are very friendly. I want to live here forever!!!! I will cry when I have to leave on the 21st.

I think I will even start a Costa Rica blog just cause I have so much to say and might even make some adsense pennies or find a spot/service to promote while I'm at it.

If u do plan on making a blog for costa rica.. Consider attempting to become an orbits or price line affiliate... So u can sell travel packages there with relative ease. I was going to do something like this last year but didn't have the time to dedicate to it.

From what I recall orbits has the most generous affiliate program. Once you have followers interested in costa rica now you have a service of value to offer them.. Just a thought!

I was born and raised in Costa Rica but I've live in the US now. My whole family still lives there so I get there once a year.

Americans love Costa Rica. My Dad moved there in 1959 and stayed. Ha-ha. Where are you?

If you have any questions about , let me know.

I have an Aunt who went to Costa Rica in the late '60's to teach English, she met a local, married and only comes back on visits - she is actually here now.

Two cousins (different aunt) of mine went down in the '80's to also teach English, they both came back with Costa Rican wives.

Must be something in the schools down there

Yep, I'm a tico. I was born in San Jose and grew up in the Escazu area before it became expat haven.

My Dad was American and my Mom tica. But I've been living in the US for over 20 years now. I came here to go to school and married a gringa.

I bought some nice land near the beach near a town called Samara. Looking forward to building a place there some day.

Now is a great time to buy property in Costa Rica. During the real estate boom Real Estate prices went crazy but now you can find some great deals!

My brother has the #1 site on Costa Rica law so if you're interested in moving there or starting a business check out his site...

          http://www.costaricalaw.com/

This guy has a great blog about the real Costa Rica. A lot of foreigners fall in love and move there then get culture shock...

Glad your enjoying it! I'll be there visiting my family for Christmas.

This is a really interesting site!

I have a list of about 15 other countries for which I'd love to find sites just like that, and it's really difficult, even when you put in a lot of time and are quite good at searching.

That site should be looked at in detail by anyone interested in Costa Rica, and especially by anyone interested in trying to do "that sort of site" for their own country, just to see how it can be really well done.

A brother of mine lives in Costa Rica. Not totally sure why, but I think it was mainly to be able to have a nice view and comfortably live off the proceeds of selling his house in Canada without having to work much if at all. Keep in mind that it is a big earthquake zone.

I ALSO WANT TO MARRY A LOCAL AND LIVE HERE!!!! But I need a tico husband not a tico wife!!!!

Where I'm staying, in San Jose near Parque de la Paz, the internet is great, I've had no problems.

I also had surgery here a tummy tuck for a flat abdomen after pregnancies ruined that. So I have so much to say about everything. Medical tourism, culture differenes, lifestyle. I think maybe someone considering medical tourism or a vacation might be interested in the blog. And it wouldn't even be a blog with a purpose of making money, I just feel I have so much to say and need a place to say it. (Like there's guards at walmart and taco bell and everywhere!!! And sooo much more)

OMG the doctor is FANTASTICO!!!! Doctors here are SO diff. from the USA. So far he has visited me daily at my hotel suite, he says I can call his mobile anytime if I have a question or problem (which I dont wanna bother him) and after surgery he personally drove me home (hotel) and helped me walk in and get into bed. Drs. in USA just wouldn't do that.

Yes, we don't have an army but armed guards at Taco Bell. As an American you won't have any problems finding a Tico.

Check out the CIAFACTBOOK. They make t clear that costa Rica is not such a great place!

          https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...k/geos/cs.html

Luckily, because of who you are, that you are older, in a nice area, and all the development, etc... you can enjoy the better parts. If you were a young nicaraguan girl, possibly very poor, or lived there like in the 1930s or something, it would be VERY different! between the slave trade, drugs, disease, piracy, and slavery.

Yeah, they are probably realists, and have the guards there to scream at the derelicts that they better toe the line!

Friends of mine moved there from Cali, they operate their business mostly by phone and computer anyway so just moving there and saving on cost etc was huge. They have a gorgeous house on a bluff with an infinity edge pool overlooking the ocean. They love it. I had another friend that moved there like 10+ years ago for their boat business, and never came back lol.

In my previous business, I traveled all over Latin America, and I can tell you Costa Rica is a beautiful country, friendly people and very peaceful. A lot of Americans are already retiring there. I would certainly recommend that everyone should visit.

Since, I read this post, now I'm tempted to take the trip.

I wonder if there are any raccoons in Costa Rica? In the early 80s Earl
Tupper (yes, the Tupperware guy) came to speak at a business class I
was taking. I thought he was a bit odd but he gave a good speech. Shortly
thereafter he sold Tupperware for $16 million, gave exactly half to his long
suffering wife (who promptly divorced him). His intent was to move to
southern California. Before the move he took a two week vacation to Costa
Rica and never returned to the U.S. He lived out his life in a beautiful beach
    house overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
