Thousands of wallets and purses containing billions of yen, as well as thousands of safes containing billions more, in addition to gold bars, valuable antiques, and important documents have all be handed in to the police in Japan in the wake of the earthquake/tsunami earlier this year.

That's honestly you won't find in many places in the world.

Colour me (very) impressed

When I was a kid doing a lot of reading, it seemed that the most common business phrase in Canada was "do not send cash in mail." Every newspaper and magazine mail order ad seemed to say that.

A lot of years later, I was impressed to read that when Japanese send cash in the mail, they will put a note on the envelope saying that it contains cash, so people will be extra careful with it. Of course there are exceptions but as a culture they are impressively honest.
