BBC NEWS | Technology | Microsoft begins Windows 7 push

LOL, Vistargh seems to have lasted about as long as
Windows ME.

I guess there will be a rush to download "7" beta tomorrow.
I will not be amongst the rush ... discretion being the better part of valour

Interesting. I must admit I was surprised by the Facebook connection.

Anybody else notice how much Windows 7 looks like Mac OS X?

Vista = Viruses, Infections, Spyware, Trojans, Adware

    I'll stick with XP.

    Me2-XP.

I am looking forward to 7 but will NOT subject myself to all of the 'beta' bugs, etc. -

Wake me when the full version is rolled out so I can check for all the security patches. thanks.

No, it's been out longer than it seems.Like Mike said, I think ME was repalced quicker, but it's a close call.

I've been running Windows 7 Beta for about a week now...no problems so far. Only thing I can see is my usb mouse lags a bit when my cpu is getting stressed...hopefully new drivers will fix that.

I have a friend that is running in now and he says the 64 bit version is awesome.
He said the 32 bit version lags and runs klunky.

I'm running the 32 bit version at the same time as xp on a 4 year old machine and it runs very fast for me.

Windows 7 is not coming out till later in 2010 so Vista still has about 2 years left after being out since 2005.

I don't think vista is out any shorter than any other versions of windows.

Windows xp came out in 2001. Vista came out in 2005. Windows 7 is 2010. Technically Vista is out longer than XP before another operating system came along.

Personally though I'm sticking with xp cause I don't see anything on windows 7 that I actually need or want at the moment, but it does run great.

Not too wonderful for users of older computers/laptops
as M$ suggests a 1GB ram requirement .... and Vista would
just skinny in a tad under 512Mb.

Everybody is being inexorably shovelled towards dual/quad
core cpus, 64bit processing plus ddr2/ddr3 ram and terabit
        sata2/3 hdds.

Before long we each will have enough computing power
to run a small country ... but use it to watch movies or
        play games.

LOL, if these things attain much more realism ... then you
can get the same stuff just by walking outside your home.
If games consoles could shoot back with actual bullets ...
that would be realism .... especially if you had the smells also
