Well, on a smaller scale here, there was the recent cell phone cut off at BART in San Francisco, just like they did in Egypt. There is a ramping up of the rhetoric against a free internet by the talking heads and politicos as well. If this happened, I wouldn't be a bit surprised

I did not hear about that...I'm curious - did the BART cops try to keep people from sending pics of them beating up people in the station again?

A few more times and they can get their own reality show...
(jingle) Bart Cops - Bart Cops...whatcha gonna do when the train comes thru...

It hit the news. They disabled ALL cell traffic, They CLAIMED it was to stop a flash mob. Interesting. Create a disaster and use it to get rid of a right.

Such flash mob stuff is NOT reliable! At least one phone company is using this MORONIC flash mob stuff to say you should buy THEIR service because THEY can get the message to you faster.

Why don't they use the methods that are THOUSANDS of years old, and that people spoke about in films for the past few decades. They could have all the ability of using the network without the network. But NO, too simple. It DOES make you wonder though.

        ICSSMM!

ALSO, so far as I can determine, the internet kill switch hasn't even been designed. It is a multipass deal, and apparently that hasn't happened!

Alex jones later makes it clear what REALLY happened! Rather than shutting down anything, or replacing THOUSANDS of pages, they simply repointed the domains. A complicated and illegal thing becomes an incredibly easy update that takes SECONDS!

That has been in place since DAY ONE! The KILL switch is different.

So what IS the kill switch?
    Special software MUST be used!
    Special standards MUST be used!
Only LICENSED people are allowed to work on networks.
Classes will be setup to get them licensed, etc...
Whole subnets could be cut out so EVEN using the IP address wouldn't work.
Heck, they may tweak IPv6, or convert it to another standard to complicate any extrainternet activity.

So they will have control of the system and people that work on it.
