Fill me in on the goss yanks - do you think it was murder ?

The body of Zahau was found on the grounds of the Spreckels Mansion in Coronado, Calif., July 13. When police arrived they found Zahau on the back lawn, her hands tied behind her back and her feet bound.

How can that be called suicide ? Very suspicious indeed and a clear motive and the means to have it carried out by a third party.

There was a motive for suicide also but the one for murder is stronger by appearances.

I just saw this last night on one of those hollywood entertainment shows (not on the news). The police issued a video showing how she managed to tie her hands behind her back:rolleyes: supporting their suicide theory. Problem with it is you would have to be an expert with knots to pull it off. Something she was not.

I can't comment on that case because I only heard bits and pieces of the story.

But I remember hearing about a case where a man was shot in the head with a bolt action rifle four times, and they said it was self inflicted.

Now mind you I'm not a forensics expert, but I really fail to see how a man can shoot himself in the head, reach over, eject the case, feed a new round in the chamber, and go thru the process a few more times.

Wow - ya think maybe it's time to insist on more stringent IQ requirements for investigative professionals? Or maybe advanced courses in reality vs fantasy?

Or maybe some honesty? These kinds of deductions stink like collusion with insurance companies who don't want to pay premiums. Wonder how much an insurance company would pay an investigator for calling a murder a suicide. It's starting to become clear how far someone will go to call one that.

There have been suicide cases in the past where the person committing the suicide tied their own hands and feet, to prevent themselves from changing their mind.

This one however would be hard to know. There's motivation for murder - It was his son, and she was supposed to be taking care of him when he fell down the stairs and died. There's also motivation for suicide - She was supposed to be taking care of him and feels responsible for his death.

Hopefully there's a way for forensics to figure this one out, and they're just not letting on yet.

Yes surely it was worthy of further investigation.

Yep they say she killed herself even though her hands were tied and she was gagged. Not to mention she was very happy with no signs of depression or suicidal thoughts. Happy people don't just decide to hang themselves one day.

A child in her care died 2 days before she did - I doubt she was "very happy" at the time.

The case is not closed due to the coroner's report and other evidence. The label of suicide was applied by the Sheriff at the scene and the coroner raised questions about that finding.

do you think it was murder
I think it's wise to investigate further - and that's what they are doing. Other than that, I don't know enough about it to think one way or another.

    I got goosebumps when I read this;

Zahau allegedly used black paint to write the words "she saved him can you save her" on a bedroom door near the balcony where she was found hanging.

That house could be evil! It sound like a scene out of Amityville Horror

Certainly the gentleman's life has gone to hell in a hand basket innocent or otherwise.

If she was murdered it is a terrible tragedy - and so otherwise. So how would further investigations occur in the USA for this case & who will pay for them ?
