It is possible to find the address by asking the telephone company, the police or the American equivalent of the Home Office.

Much more simple is to phone the number and ask where it is if anyone answers. It seems you have an excellent reason for an answer to be forthcoming.

That was nice of you to have given so much thought...but the situation demands that I cannot implement your suggestions; but there is a possibility to try out getting the address from the telephone company. Hope I figure that out and it helps.

But ideally, someone from California would be best in position to help.

I'm sorry to hear that you cannot simply telephone the number.

Another way to get the address would be to find someone who can telephone, on your behalf, and carry out a brief survey. I have used this myself when I wanted to check on a number from which I had received a call for help.

I wrote a 20 question survey about lifestyles and then got a lady friend to ask the questions with the promise of a cash award. At the end of the survey it is very natural to ask for the address to send the money to and it is not likely that a false one would be given.

I think your survey-suggestion is very valuable as it seems practical: least burdensome and fast. All that I need now is find someone in the USA to call and take the survey; and I hope to find someone soon.
