For me it means not having to get up at 5 am, get dressed in the dark, brave an hour commute, parking a mile away from the building, braving the Texas heat, only to find I've left my badge in the car, going back to the car, finally making it in to the closet-sized cubicle they call my office, and being a computer monkey for 8 hours straight, brave the commute again, make it home, fall down on the couch exhausted, and get up and do it again the next day.

Yes that was me 7 years ago.

What does financial freedom mean to you?

I agree sandrasims. Financial freedom to me means having enough to pay the bills and being able to do what I want to do. Getting up up at 5 am, getting dressed in the dark, braving an hour commute, parking a mile away from the building, braving the Texas heat, etc. does not sound like freedom to me either.

It means not having to work, and always having enough money to survive. Having millions in investments would accomplish this lovely scenario

Doing what you love and striving to be the best at it! Once someone gets a glimpse of their "true calling" in life they won't want to do much else. Having alot of money is overrated anyways. Mo' money more problems. I find that saving and being smart and actually GIVING away money makes me feel pretty good!

It means still being awake chatting with your friends at 5am Monday morning if you want to... while everyone elses alarm clock are saying its time to punch in, and not feeling like you are sabotaging yourself in doing so.

True financial freedom though is living off interest and never having to spend a dime you make, and setting it up so your children dont have to either, they just spend their life spending interest and committing all their earnings to the future like you did, without pressure.

When interest is how you profit... When money makes money for you. Then thats financial freedom to me. Im not there yet.
