how do I burn a bunch of CDs onto 1 CD as MP3?

OFF TOPIC

I'm dumb about these things. All I know how to do it copy
a disc.

I don't know if I have the right software to do this. Any
recommendations? I use XP

xp comes with media player, and I believe that media player will do it.

When I put a music cd into my xp computer, a dialog pops up, and I'm given the choice to "Rip music from CD using Windows Media Player".

This will allow you to convert the CD to mp3s and store them on your computer. After you have them stored on your computer, you use CD burning software to put them back onto another CD.

I am primarily a Mac user so forgive me if I'm wrong about this, Loren...

But isn't there a built-in data CD burning function right within Windows?

That's what you want... to burn just a plain old data CDR, like you would with any other kind of data.

If you try to burn the mp3's as audio, it will convert them into full blown 16 bit PCM audio.

I hear ya. I don't remember either! lol.

And I didn't make clear enough in my post (as the previous poster did), you do have to rip all the audio to MP3 first before you burn them to data CDR.
