What is with these %^& "people" that have the ads that may not even mention video or audio?

Let me tell you a few facts....

1. People may not even HAVE speakers on their system!
2. People may not have the time!
3. People may not have the ability or desire to listen/read.
4. You may turn people off.
5. It could EVEN get people FIRED! Do you think they will buy THEN?
6. There is often NO way to review!
7. There is sometimes NO way to pause!
8. Usually there is NO indication you can pause, or that t has been paused.
9. It causes an extreme peak in resource use that can hurt OTHER tasks. Will someone be willing to pay you $10 for destroying maybe hours of work?

So GO AHEAD and spam me! If I happen to read it, it MIGHT be at work!
At times, my computer hasn't responded fast enough to disable the sound, I have had to CRASH the computer. EVEN if I WANTED to buy, it may have turned me off OR, having "read" the email, I am not reminded of it. I am HYPER sensitive to some frequencies. One company, to indicate a "phone call" is "really" a "phone call" plays it such that they use that frequency. I feel like STRANGLING the jerk that came up with that idea. It hurts BAD! And the difference in volume is bad also.

What the hell is wrong with the written word?

    I second this motion.

I wonder what the difference in bounce rate would be between a site with audio and the same site without audio.

I totally agree! A book, magazine, newspaper and words on a webpage are my greatest joys. I get totally bored and lose concentration after about 10 seconds with video and audio. My brain is hurting after 7 minutes. Screw that. PDF please!

    Yep! Give me text.

Feel free to offer video but please don't make it launch unless I will it.

I am a believer in voting with my actions. I don't care how interested I am in a site. If I click on it and a video launches audio automatically, I can't click away fast enough.

I'm probably old fashioned and no one cares about losing my business but I think it is really dumb to leave any money on the table by being obnoxious.

    Mark,

I am not ENTRELY sure what you mean, but that is reminiscent of the joey and mellisa episode someone mentioned earlier. I want to know who I can SUE to get paid for the time I lose in watching such DRECK!

On that video, it could have been written in a couple pages. EASY to read! Possible to use tools, if you are handicapped! Possible to skip or review! FASTER! LESS BORING!

I hope some of those "marketers" are watching this thread.

And talking about GREEN concerns, the printed page uses LESS power, LESS TIME, is SIMPLER, etc....

I've got a slow computer connection - those auto launch videos and audios not only are annoying, they are a hindrance, too. I've been known to send some nasty emails to site owners after getting hung up and not able to get their site to load or able to click off because of their stupid videos. That's not even considering the ones that you click on late at night when everyone else in the house is sleeping and you've forgotten to turn your speakers off/down and all the sudden your leaping to turn them off because you have some idiot booming in megatones all over your house.

There are a few commercials I really want to make sometime when I can get it done -- but they aren't going to launch automatically! Someone will actually have to click them to watch.
