Mozilla has released Firefox 7 for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. It is now available for download.

The full new feature list is as follows:
  • Drastically improved memory handling for certain use cases
  • Added a new rendering backend to speed up Canvas operations on Windows systems
  • Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when using Firefox Sync
  • Added support for text-overflow: ellipsis
  • Added support for the Web Timing specification
  • Enhanced support for MathML
  • The WebSocket protocol has been updated from version 7 to version 8
  • Added an opt-in system for users to send performance data back to Mozilla to improve future versions of Firefox
  • Fixed several stability issues
  • Fixed several security issues

"Firefox manages memory more efficiently to deliver a nimble Web browsing experience. Users will notice Firefox is faster at opening new tabs, clicking on menu items and buttons on websites. Heavy Internet users will enjoy enhanced performance when lots of tabs are open and during long Web browsing sessions that last hours or even days." - Mozilla

Has Firefox always randomly rotated download links? I've never noticed that before, but when I clicked to download it the download site was in Saudi Arabia. I cancelled that and the tried again, this time the download site was in Sweden. A third time was a .net site. Seems like it should default to the site nearest you.

This is the one issue that keeps me from upgrading right away. I am using FF5 and when I upgraded I had to use the Roboform FF plugin from FF3.

      Time to research...

Firefox in attempts to copy chrome have changed their release cycle to rapid release cycle. I seen screenshots of future versions and they look exactly like chrome too and the awesome bar and url bar merged just like chrome. version 4 was the last major release, they're always like 3 ahead now, alpha builds, beta etc...

Roboform 7 works with Firefox 7. Roboform 6 does not.

I don't think it looks anything like Chrome, but I have the menu bar and tool bars turned on. It looks pretty much like the same Firefox. I don't know why they would even try to get it to look like Chrome. I don't like the look and functionality of Chrome, personally.

As for functionality, it is definitely improved. They have talked about improved memory usage in previous versions, but this version I am seeing a huge improvement. I always have many windows opened with many tabs open in each. Firefox has always been very sluggish for me. This version is running a lot faster and cleaner for me.

Can confirm it works perfectly with RoboForm latest version. Just had to install FF and then update my RB to show again my precious toolbar All in all it was a 2 minute operation and it goes smooth as can be.

And this new FireFox version is 99% similar to the last one, isn't it? I don't see any differences at all, at least on the visual side.
