Okay, here is the deal.I have 2 computers.

A Windows 2000 and a Windows 7. Both can connect to the Internet with no
problem, normally. I use Comcast with a Linksys router.

Today, I can't connect with the Windows 7 but can connect with the
Windows 2000.

I did the following:

1. Swapped the cables between the Windows 2000 and Windows 7.
No change.

2. Disabled the firewall on my Microsoft Security Essentials. No change.

3. Did a system restore to before last night's update (last time I got a
connection) No change.

4. Did an Ipconfig /release and Ipconfig /renew. IP addresses were correct
according to Comcast tech. No change.

5. Pulled out power cables on modem and router and reset. No change.

6. Shut down PC altogether and shut down power from wall outlet. No change.

7. Checked ethernet adapter in device manager. Appears to be functional. I
don't know what else to do and I'm stumped.

If there is anybody here who has any additional things I can try, please let
me know.

Thank you for your assistance.

** EDIT ** Without going into a long story, here is the fix I found if
anybody else has this same very odd problem.
