Yeah! Balut is delicious! I have also tasted DAGANG BUKID!

        Note:
For some folks out there, balut is a Filipino food means unfertilized egg.

I'll take your world on the taste, but if it smells anything like newly hatched chicken egg shells no way I could keep it down

Ew to placenta soup and that egg. I mean, good for you if it's part of your culture, but I don't think I could ever stomach that.

The most exotic food that I will eat is genuine roadside jerk in Jamaica. Now that is some good stuff!

Nope, not eating exotic or weird or creepy crawlers stuff here. I prefer to know normal, every day ingredients were used in my food -- although I do wish some of the things added was not normal and every day ingredients, but nothing I can do about it.

Lutefisk is made from dried whitefish (normally cod in Norway, but ling is also used) prepared with lye in a sequence of particular treatments. The watering steps of these treatments differ slightly for salted/dried whitefish because of its high salt content.
The first treatment is to soak the stockfish in cold water for five to six days (with the water changed daily). The saturated stockfish is then soaked in an unchanged solution of cold water and lye for an additional two days. The fish swells during this soaking, and its protein content decreases by more than 50 percent producing a jelly-like consistency. When this treatment is finished, the fish (saturated with lye) has a pH value of 11-12 and is therefore caustic. To make the fish edible, a final treatment of yet another four to six days of soaking in cold water (also changed daily) is needed. Eventually, the lutefisk is ready to be cooked!

Suthan - I ate octopus once. I don't think it was cooked right, it had the texture of rubber bands.

Derek - I've heard that human placenta is excellent restorative nutrition. I'd never be able to knowingly eat it, though. Comes to close to cannibalism for me to be able to digest enough mentally to even be able to put it in my mouth. However, pragmatically, it would be a wise thing for people to start eating with food shortages becoming rampant. A vagan could even eat that for the animal elements that their body doesn't get and still know that nothing suffered or died to give them nutrition. So intellectually I really like the idea.

Salted cod is popular where I am. That's raw cod left in salt for upto a month then served with a sauce. It's very, very strong and not something I will eat again.
Cooked octupuss is normal here. Sal it sounds like they cooked it for too long as it should be very tender.
I enjoy baby squid regularly. Get them whole deep fried and served with lemon. Really tasty!

I was only told I had human placenta soup many years afterwards. It is supposed to have a lot of medicinal properties. Nowadays, it is not possible to get placentas from local hospitals anymore. Many are designated for the cosmetics industry who are willing to pay top prices.
