What do you think of this? I'm not qualified to judge, but I found it pretty cool:

He's skilled and his technique is great. But - for me - the song gets lost in the riffs.

It's personal taste. For me adding a flourish is fun but too many flourishes make the music about your technique rather than the musical score.

I really enjoyed this. I used to love to play Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano. It is one of those great songs that you can really rock and sing to. But my piano playing never came close to that guy. Nice share, thanks.

Yeah, I like it. But for embelishment, he seems to be a bit of a one trick pony and the flavor DOES get lost. I don't think you can avoid that when using only a piano though.

I thought it was cool, but don't trust my judgement on his playing.

It sounds like EVERYONE liked it. It is just if he really improved it or kept the identity of the song where people differ. It's more opinion than judgement.

Sure. In my case, uninformed opinion. I remember listening to two advanced piano players discussing music. I didn't understand a thing they were talking about.

I wasn't trying to belittle or insult anyone. I took piano lessons, some of it relatively advanced, even though I wouldn't even classify myself as a beginner now. I even tried to write a song once. I think I actually got one page done. I could see how people could talk and throw others, even if they just talk about basic music. Still, MOST, even EXPERTS, can't get the full flavor of music just by describing it or looking at a sheet.

FRANKLY I hate the pretentious types that feel you must take classes to really appreciate art or food, or music. HECK, I often use the word flavor. With Music that could be tone, pitch, tempo, melody, harmony, etc.... or any mix of them, but the term flavor will do for me.

If an artist can't get the public to praise their work, maybe THEY should take the classes!

  • It is a tough piece for one...

Personally, I think it could be a great number if it was arranged as a duet...

It would be a good duet - you could remain true to the melody and still get all the fancy fingerwork in.

I could listen to him play all day, he's so talented. That song sounds great on the piano

Seems like he's quite a good player. The high embellishments are a little dirty and could use a little work, but everything else sounds great! Definitely a cool spin on a classic!

He is definitely a very good player despite the embellishments. You can definitely hear the melody distinctly and well above the flourishes throughout. The melody was smooth throughout, especially when it was switched between his L and R hand.
