hi guys,

i was wondering are there any risk in helping people create a paypal account?

because alot of my workers are from parkistan, and they ask me to open a paypal account for them.

but i was thinking, if they can create an account, can they use the account even if i create for them?

and also, if they abuse the account will paypal trace the IP and ban my account as well?

lol i know im being paranoid but better be safe than sorry.

thanks guys/

I think your paranoia is justified.

If I were you I wouldn't do it.

In the same respect as a bank account it's up to the individual who's account it is to open and access it.

I'm quite sure you'd be running against PayPal TOS if you done so and at the same time you'd be jeopardizing your own account which no doubt will be tied to the same IP.

yup anyways i was thinking, its not going to be possible even if i were to help him.

because number 1, i am DEFINITELY not going to use my credentials and bank account, so i told him to use his bank account which he did willingly give me all his details.

the thing is, if he is going to verify his paypal account with his bank details and address, wouldnt paypal know that its from a restricted country. lol

so actually all this doesnt make sense.

i found an old thread here which also asked the same question.

look like everyone is against it.

im not going to do it anymore. =)

just wanna post it here in case in future someone comes along with the same question.

OK, this is illogical! You want him to GIVE what logically can never really be used so that others can take OUR liberties, his, mine, maybe yours, and most of the other people on this board?

WHY do you think paypal restricts it? Because OTHERS restrict THEM! WHY do others restrict them? Because people do things like steal money, impersonate others, and obfuscate records! In other words, things are made hard for THEM because THEY have done such things to OTHERS! They are being REWARDED for that, and YOU want to deny them their reward!

And HOW do I know this? Besides all the times I have seen lists of countries like in: Merchant Credit Card Fraud - Prevent Minimize Fraud , my credit card processor does the SAME with ME!

Different sources will likely have different lists of high-risk countries. High risk countries include developing nations like Indonesia, Malaysia, Benin, Nigeria, Pakistan, Israel, Egypt, and Eastern European countries.
OH, and NOTE the 5th one on this relatively tiny list!

They ASKED for this! Do the CHRISTIAN thing, and I'm sure other religions say the same, and let them reap what they sow.

In the US, technically, it would be aiding and abetting money laundering. If you use a bank account you setup for them, maybe bank fraud. If you use your own account, they could steal money from you, etc.... Besides, WHY do it? Paypal doesn't prevent people in certain countries from creating accounts, they forbid that people in such countries USE them. So you have to wonder WHY they want this. AND, where does the money they pay YOU come from?

As for the IP, paypal probably knows that isn't reliable, but they MAY have a cookie to trace this. And they DO have a LOT of chances to tie it to YOU!

i would say dont do it..
Paypal keeps track of IPs that log in for all the accounts.

and so you may get into trouble later.
why take the risk if you are dependent on paypal for payment and all?

helping out is good sentiment... but not worth if it can cause major problems for you.
