I just read this story and it's so sad!

Ohio owner of exotic animals was deep in debt - US news - Life - msnbc.com

If those escaped animals were instead convicted violent murderers, your logic would have us locking down the area indefinitely (creating a far more chaotic and dangerous situation than what the animals posed) and expending enormous amounts of time and tax dollars to hunt them all down and "safely" recapture them! I'm just so tired of mankind's arrogance.

Are you upset because they killed the animals? I didn't understand your comment.

But yes, it is a sad story. The authorities did the right thing though. You can't have exotic animals roaming around near a small town.

    From the article...

The last animal that had been unaccounted for, a monkey infected with herpes B virus, was believed to have been eaten by one of the large cats
Good reasons right there, as to why they decided to put them all down vs trying to capture them. Some of the animals were diseased and the big cats where already attacking other animals (as is there nature) but imagine if that was someone's domesticated animal (dog, cat) or child!
