As I was watching the World Series game last night and they kept showing Nolan Ryan on the screen, I had a thought.

Now that Robin Ventura has been named the manager of the White Sox, let's jump ahead to next season.

We are in Arlington and the White Sox are in town. The game is heading into the bottom of the ninth inning and the White Sox are up 5-4 on the Rangers.

All of a sudden on the PA system the Rocky theme song starts playing. Up on the big screen appears Nolan Ryan beaning Robin Ventura and the fight that ensued. They just keep replaying Nolan grabbing the headlock and punching Ventura over and over again.

That stadium would be going nuts. It instantly would be like a playoff game atmosphere. They HAVE to do this.

It would be hilarious.

The only thing that would make this even better would be Ventura getting pissed off about it, charging up into the stands, and Nolan Ryan beating his ass again.

Looks like he went in there to be a sacrificial lamb.

I'll just walk up to you and let you get me in a headlock and start punching me.

I never agreed with pitchers throwing at hitters simply because they're having a hard time getting them out.

      It's bush league.

They usually hit them to keep them from crowding the plate. Not because they can't get them out. That or a hitter did something to deserve getting hit for.

These days with hitters allowed to practically wear body armor at the plate, it doesn't have the same effect.

          I respectfully disagree.

I'm sure the vast majority of these incidences happen after the pitcher(s) has been getting rocked and the offense has been going around the bases like a conga line.

It's happened many times to a hitter that's been rocking the pitchers of a particular team.

Last night the guy goes 4 for 4 and the next day, he's being thrown at.
