Ken if you personally know of a corrupt official then you need to report them to the Department Of Justice. I'm sick to death of people bad mouthing the government I fought for. I think this is the greatest country that has ever been built of the face of the earth and it is likely to remain great for the foreseeable future. People do not automatically become a crook the day they're elected to public office. I personally know local, state and federal office holders that work 16 hours a day for years on end often at great cost to their health, their families their marriages. They do all that for much less than the money that can be made in the private sector. All the "downers" and "bad mouthers"need to look around the world and ask themselves what form of government they'd rather live under.

    Thomas

EDIT: I don't automatically assume somebody is a crook because I disagree with them or a good guy because I agree with them. I also really like doing my own thinking rather than let a talking head on TV tell me what to think.

Yep...I feel the same. Ken...report those corrupt politicians!

Even if they are corrupt, it doesn't excuse others from robbing people.

I was friends with a kid here in Colorado who grew up to be a politician here. He would have pretty good name recognition to Coloradans if I said his name.

I know he's a good person. I know he's very smart and I also know he cares about people. I don't agree with all of his politics, but I get angry when people call him corrupt and think every decision he makes has ulterior motives.

Thos - you didn't fight for the government - you fought for your people. Let's clear that one up first.

There is a LOT of corruption in office. But....there are still some good people in there. It's hard to report a criminal to a justice system that has been mostly bought and sold -- but if enough people do report officials who commit criminal actions, maybe they will get the clue that we aren't going to stand by and watch our reps play royalty. Report criminals - -and if reporting it doesn't do any good -- get together and impeach or recall them so they know they can't rely on a bought court to bail them out if they are thugs.

@ Once: Thank God for Google or I'd have never figured out where you were. We all need to start generating a more positive attitude and outlook. It doesn't matter if you happen to be from B.F. Egypt. The last two or three years haven't be pleasant for a lot of people. Too bad. The world has been through much much worse and this too will pass. It does no good at all to sit around blaming the (any) government for your lot in life. Get off your butt and pursue your own economic recovery plan. The world is not coming to an end and most of the conspiracy theories are crap. I can just do what I can do and let the chips fall where they may. So Carpe Diem

    Thomas

EDIT: SAL, I fought for a country and a way of life that includes my government. When I put my hand over my heart and sing the national anthem that includes my government. I don't regard that song as just a good way to start a NASCAR race. When I was in the sixth grade the teacher offered extra credit for anyone who memorized the Declaration of Independence well enough to recite it. I was the only one who did it. I still can and it still brings tears to my eyes. Every election cycle I take time off from my business and work my ass off for the candidates I support and half the country doesn't even bother to vote. They'd rather sit around and bitch about how bad things are and whose to blame than try to change them. Can I compete with the Koch brothers multi-millions? No, but I can do what I can. I haven't always been right. Some of the people I believed in turned out to be crap and some I worked against turned out to be heroes. When I tell people I'm a patriot I mean it and that includes my government. Any candidate from any party who wants my vote next year had better have some workable solutions. Its easy to run against somebody or something. Its a lot harder to stand up and run FOR something.
