How to thank someone?

I appreciate this is a really dumb question, but how do I thank someone for a useful post? I can't see any thing to press.

    I think after something like 5 posts you can thank people.

      Thanks. I wonder what the rationale is behind that?

      As a newbie I don't feel able to join in with offering anyone advice as I just don't know enough about anything, but it would be nice to be able to thank people for the informative posts on here.

    It's spam protection. It keeps people from creating fake accounts and thanking themselves.
