      Maybe they targeted a jet, it deployed counter measures, and the missles locked onto the car's exhaust. Of course, that DOESN'T explain why the missiles are going SO slow. To catch a slow jet at crusing speed, they would likely have to go over 300MPH. To catch a fast fighter jet, they may have to go 10 times as fast. That is less than Mach 5.
