My goal was 60, I only did 51. Did I fail?

I can only write 3 articles a day along with my other 5 traffic methods. I still work a full-time job.

My traffic system starts with my 3 articles. My goal for my last 20 day cycle was to write 60 articles.(3 articles a day, Monday-Friday. Weekends off).

I know some of you work 7 days a week but as much as I dislike my F/T job and can't wait to leave, I have to have a break or I'll get burned out. So I take off weekends from IM and I'm off from my F/T on the weekends as well. I just can't work like a robot or machine. I like money and freedom but not that much.

I only wrote 51 articles.

Would you consider that failing?

No. A failure would have been writing 0 articles. lol

At least you are doing SOMETHING. You'll get there when you get there. It took me about 2 years of this stuff before I could do it full time. til then, just keep working on it in your spare time. Me, I happen to have a lot of spare time. hahaha my wife is always working.. man its so boring here sometimes..

BUT I just bought a new ps3 and MW3 on black friday, so that is guaranteed to cure some of the boredom.

Well you failed in writing 60 articles. But succeeded in writing 51. Something to feel proud about.

I would say it's better to set a hard to reach goal and just come shy, then to set an easy to reach goal and succeed every time.

This is something I've always done with myself. I make a goal that I think will be difficult and slightly out of reach and do my absolute best to reach it. Sometimes I get there and I reward myself (buy something I've wanted, go somewhere for the weekend, etc). Most of the time however I come close but don't make it all the way. I don't consider this a failure though. At the very minimum, I've still moved my business forward and that's never a failure.

"TAKE ACTION" is the first thing everyone tells you and then they leave it at that. I'll add a second part: TRACK EVERYTHING" - It's the only way to ensure your ACTION leads to results.

you achieved 85% of your goal. how you feel about it is something we cannot tell you

was the goal too ambitious? were there distractions that could be eliminated to improve performance?

are you willing to let go of the last 15% and be okay with it, and start fresh with a new goal tomorrow?

are you willing to go through the same process - evaluate, replan, closure - every goal period?

if so...then you have tremendous momentum, and have achieved much to be proud of.

calling it 'success' or 'failure' is not only premature, it's unnecessary.

goal-setting is like a game: decide on a target, shoot for it, learn from the process, repeat

it's only failure if you give up!

Now, you can consider some aspects:

Did you waste too much time on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, WF or any other website?
Do you have lots of distractions around your working space?
Do you have to work a full time job and can only write during your "free" time?

I don't know your answers but I would feel proud of myself if I were you.

I don't have a FB or Twitter account.

As I stated in the OP, I DO have a full-time job(40 hours a week). I spend 5 hours a day on my business before I go to work. I barely go to forums at all anymore.

I just ran out if steam. I'm putting in about 70 hours over 5 days a week.

No, distractions. Single guy that lives alone. When It's time to work, I work. No TV, checking email,texting...........

I think I was just tired.

My next 20 day cycle starts on Dec. 1st so I'm going to work hard to hit my goal.

    No you didn't fail.
Although, I bet there were days were you only wrote 3 articles when you
could have written 4-5 because the creative juices were flowing.

Here is something it took me a while to figure out. When you are on a
roll and things are falling into place better than expected then keep going.

Strive to exceed your daily goals and forget that you did it. By the end of
the month you will have blown your monthly goal out of the water.

Never do just enough to get by because you never know when something
will interfere with your mission. For example, You could get sick for a few
days and do nothing or someone you love may need your help. By always
trying to do more than it requires to meet your goals, you'll find that
instead of just missing your goals you normally meet or exceed them setting
you even closer to the end result and your long term goals.

    Have a Great Day!
    Michael
PS, Great Job following through on your goal even if you did come up
a little short. As said above, At least you did something.

Doing anything after a full day of work is not only successful - it's just nuts.........and ya just gotta love anyone with that kind of drive. Keep it up and pretty soon you might be able to stop the day job and then you will need to set a new goal. Awwwe.

      Hey, HeySal,

That's the plan. To keep going until I can resign from my day gig. It'll take time but the drive and dedication is there.

one suggestion: create an editorial calendar for your articles, e.g. write out the topics and outline notes on each article beforehand, perhaps on a lazy Sunday afternoon...

...that way, when it's time to write, you can just write.

Always write the first draft as if your chair was on fire. Do not edit or proofread of second-guess yourself. Just write.

Then, go back and edit for content. Once.

Then, go back and proofread. Once.

Then hit publish/save, and take a short break.

Working a full time job and then putting in more hours to build a business is hardly what I'd call failure. We are humans, not robots. There are limits to our capabilities.

    Keep up the good work!
