Hi

Where do i stand when my hosting does this.

Ok i was hosting with https://www.alibabahost.com who rented servers off

rapidspeeds.com

Now apparently rapidspeeds.com has dissappeared along with with my hosting files. I was paying a extra for alibaba daily backup service.

Now as they dont have the files as rapidspeeds have dissapeared, Can i get compensation for the loss of my site ?

Is there no way my alibaba can get my site back?

Thanks in advance

Want me to tell you a secret? A LOT of people want backups, but DON'T want to do them!
So many control panels offer different levels of automation for that. YEAH, even WHM and control panel. THAT is probably what they did. It may have effctively cost them NOTHING for those backups. With the proper disclaimers, there might not be ANYTHING you can do but appeal to THEM to try to get the files. If you want to appeal, you better do it QUICKLY to alibaba AND rapidspeeds, and any other entity involved.

THIS is why *****YOU***** should always backup. YEAH, I should talk! I just went through all my laptops to order them, and found one that had files I wanted and don't have a real recent copy of. And YEAH, MY host basically went down also. The ONE time I decide to not move EVERYTHING, and I get burned. But I DO have the ABILITY to recover this stuff.

You MIGHT have lucked out! They(rapidspeed) are claiming that they have a DDOS attack, and are at a loss as to how to control it. They simply disconnected their network. They CLAIMED rerouted, but that apparently is NOT the case. If true, they may be up again shortly. The ORIGINAL estimate was as late as 2 hours ago BUT, obviously, they MISSED that one!

According to this thread it would appear

rapidspeeds dissolved the company a few days ago

Rapidspeeds - Facts / Speculations - WJunction - Webmaster Forum!

Not looking good is it ?

        As I said:

        1. This is NOT symptomatic of a DDoS attack!
        2. The routers were NOT rerouted!
        3. They MISSED their deadline!

        In YOUR link, it says:

        1. The first News From Rapidspeeds After the Downtime was that Leaseweb Nullrouted all their servers due to a lethal DDOS attack and will be back shortly up .
OK, I misread the NUL as RE. 8-(

There is STILL hope that what happened was that they DID have a DDoS attack and THEIR provider cut them off(AKA nullroute) to get rid of the bandwidth usage. Maybe THEY can appeal. ALSO, if that IS the case, you should be able to appeal for the backup. MAYBE they can have you dial in. Going through the internet would, obviously, be out of the question.
