Oh god...basis math please help

I feel like an idiot...my brain is not working

I am doing an google analytics comparison of data...and for

Dec 1 - Dec 31, the pageviews were 704

for Jan1 - Today - the pageviews were 1,987.

Google says this is a 187% increase. How did they get that %?

    Number 1 - number 2, divided by number 1, * 100

    1987 - 704 = 1283 increase

    1283/704 = 183% (not sure how they got the extra 4%)
