I know we have a few people on here that must keep an eye on the news.
I was just wondering if anyone knows of any Breaking News sites that are good and reliable.
International or U.S. preferable...but doesn't really matter.

The reason I am asking here, I know we have some older people that have been dealing with the Net a lot longer than I. Have searched around but would like to get some recommendations from some of the 'vets' at news watch.

I actually found a pretty good one the other day, looks like it uses RSS feeds from a lot of the top and some not so top news sites.

News <link.. Its called CPS Wire. (In case someone hasn't seen this one)

If you will notice at the top of the site it also has sports, entertainment, technology ..etc.

I would just like to get a few bookmarked.
If it's just sports or technology or whatever, that's fine too.

If you like funny headlines these are pretty good

I wish I kept URLs for this, but I don't. Sometimes I run across good sites though - I do hella research, so if I find anything really awesome I'll pm it to ya.

The best thing I've found for getting news is to set up a Twitter account, and only follow news outlets (CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera English, whatever you want), or even follow that CPS wire service you mentioned as they have their own Twitter feed.

I've got a few of these. One for global news, one for local news, one for sports, one for music, etc., etc..

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

      Thanks Sal,
If you happen to run across any good ones that have varying news outlets like the CPS in my OP, that would be great.
Like you say, a lot of 'news' publications are biased.
Hell some are down right fronts for someones agendas.

Figure that if I have a few who are consistently reliable, research a few on an interesting or important story, I might even find the common denominator, IE: truth.

Some pubs. outside of the States have different 'style'. for lack of a better word.

It's funny but one of the ones I have been watching a bit is out of Russia,
maybe you heard of it RT ( I don't want to put too many links in here )
Some different and interesting stuff. Seems to have changed a little recently though, was on TV, haven't seen it for a while.
I realize your only 29, but it's kind of ironic considering how things used to be with them in history.

      Thanks Sal

Doh, that's one of those things I do a facepalm and think, why didn't I think of that?
(Half the people reading are probably going "cause your retarded Jim")

Actually I don't use Twitter much...but I did do that for some of (what I consider), important outlets.

I will check that out...I don't know a lot about Twitter, but I would have to assume that would be about as real time as you can get.

      So thanks whatever, good idea.

Reuters (reporters without borders) are more accurate than any of the US mainstream. The entire mainstream in the US is corporate owned now so if its even reported it's only because people are finding out and they look bad if they don't say something - and then they spin it like a freaking gyroscope. Half the country doesn't even realize that habeas corpus is dead yet because our "news" is only piped propaganda.

Getting your news from overseas is good - but you have to remember, some of those country's news lines are nothing but piped propaganda for their own citizens, too. It's pretty damned hard anymore to tell who's giving a view with any semblance of reality and who isn't. Look at Huffington Post - started out as an independent news source and they were pretty good for awhile - now owned by AOL. Corporate. They got the reputation of "underground" then sold out to a corporation, yet many readers still think they are getting the subversive skinny when they read it.

I use Rockmelt as my browser so I get the newsfeeds that I add on the left side of my screen. In addition to the larger feeds, I like Epoch Times also (Theepochtimes.com). I think they're Canadian but they always seem to have news that interests me. Some is off topic and not the usual breaking news, so I find that interesting.

I usually just check the BBC news most frequently and check their continents section when I want to find out about world news.

The closest I come to following a news site is getting the Natural News, newsletter.
Other then that I mostly read news sites that are focused on what I'm interested in or have a bug up my ass over.
You know things like fluoride, Monsanto, the feds, organics, etc.

Thanks Thom, I bookmarked that Natural News, seems worthwhile...who knows someday I might actually want to get healthy again.

Interesting story in there, about that bill passing for the military to be able to arrest people on U.S.soil. Guess I'm going to have to rely on the benign abilities of my rich, out of touch with reality, overlords...cool, can't wait.

I find the Natural News a good place to start.
He covers pretty much everything I'm interested in news wise.
I always try to get more info from other sources on most of his articles though

Just looked at your link Jim - not sure if the American Free Press is still a free press or not, LOL - but Brietbart is a damned good investigative journalist.
