Worst Possible Thing Happened...

Last Friday, I received a phone call at 1 a.m.

As most of you probably know, nothing good comes from such calls. This one was one of the worst I could have possibly gotten.

I was informed by my 19 year old son, that my 3 month old granddaughter, fathered by my middle 21 year old son, had passed away during the night. She was a frail little one from the very beginning of her life, and was hospitalized for 2 weeks after being born. But, never would I have imagined something like this would result.

Regrettably, my son and I were not getting along at the time. So, I have never been able to see, hold, kiss, hug, or tell my granddaughter how much I love her. Now she is gone and I will not have the chance to do any of those things. Today is her funeral, and will be the first and only time I get to see her little face.

As you can imagine, I am completely devastated at this moment. And have been so since I heard the news.

The most important thing to remember and do this holiday season, and all the years into the future....

Connect with the ones you love. Put aside any and all conflicts that may be distancing you from them. The differences and fights are nothing compared to what you could lose ultimately.

They are everything, and only too late do we realize just how much they mean to us.

We always discuss how taking action in business is the best thing you can do for success.

Remember that taking action, right now, with your family, is the most important thing you can do to ensure happiness.

For my clients, I will not be available for some time due to this tragedy.

For everyone else, I wish all of you the very best health, happiness, and love.

Nobody deserves to go through that, especially at this time of year. I am truly sorry for your loss; and hope that things between you and your son can improve.

I wish at a time like this that words could help relieve the pain. I'm so sorry is all I can say though. It may not help, but at least it lets you know I care.

My condolences, it's always very sad, especially when they're so young.

May I suggest that now may be a good opportunity to reconnect with your son? Maybe something positive will come out of this tragedy.

    Good luck.

Tracy, my condolences for you and your family's loss. I was just talking about this nightmare with WD Mino last night on how devastating it is to lose a child or think you may lose a child. There's nothing we can say to take away the pain, but please know your warrior family shares it and we're standing by to help out in any way we can - if you or your family needs anything please let us know. We almost lost our oldest son at 4 weeks to VATERs so if you need someone to talk to please feel free to reach out to me or my wife.
    Be well,

My toddler was playing nearby as I read this and I know that you're experiencing indescribable sadness right now. I often go to my child's crib when he's sleeping just to hear the reassuring sounds of his breathing. Wishing you and your family the best at this difficult time.

Thanks to you all for your kind words and well wishes.

My son and I are back on speaking terms now, and all is going to be rebuilt. I just wish that this tragedy would not have been the catalyst for the reconciliation.

Now, I've come back from Erin's (my granddaughter) showing this evening, and my son is in need of help. He just informed me that he did not have enough money to pay for the urn, flowers, or the rest of the funeral expenses. So he has asked me to help him. And most importantly, help Erin.

He gave me this little flyer that he tried to put up inside local bars, etc....only to be turned down by every single one of the owners. And I want to share it with you here:

I would love to provide him with any extra money I could. If anyone would like to donate, please do feel free to do so. Any amount will help. And all of this will be going to my son.

Just PM or email me and I will provide you with the donation button. I have to set all this up for my son and daughter in law as they have no bank account, PayPal account, nada.

    Thanks to everyone for everything.

Sheryl, thank you for your condolences. I appreciate them, and from everyone.

I wanted to post up the donation button, but was afraid it might be against the forum rules. I would be more than willing to do that, so long as a mod approved it.

Words are so inadequate at times like these.

Yes, make the most of every day and make sure that the ones you love know that you love them.

If I've learned nothing else in life, I've learned that much.

My deepest sympathies as a father are with you at this time.
