Looking for an eBay alternative to sell on?

I was going to post the link to the site here, but now I'm not going to because of that lame rule about having a minimum of 15 post count before we can post a URL. I've spent the last 20 minutes retyping this, trying different ways to get it to post with the URL info in it

How does such a rule help? I'm not trying to scam anyone, just trying to pass a URL on to the rest of the Warriors, to be helpful. And just because someone has made less than 15 posts does not mean they do not know what they are doing.

But such a rule only puts me off from being helpful at this forum, which is contrary to what Allen Says wants this forum to be, isn't it?

Oh, well, it's his forum and I certainly don't have to be helpful here. It's not the only internet marketing forum available. (See, I really hate having that type of attitude!)

Anyway, you want the URL, do a Google Search of atomic mall.

Or type atomicmall into the address field and stick a dot com after it, then add a forward slash and type dot php at the end...

for crying out loud!

There's nothing from stopping you contributing to the
forum. 15 posts is nothing. If you know what you are
doing with online marketing in any area you will find
15 threads to contribute to here in under an hour and
there you go - building your credibility as a Warrior.

And yeah, there are other IM forums. None better in
my experience, but everyone has their preferences.

Thanks, Loren, but the point being, why should anyone have to make a minimum number of posts in the first place to be able to show a URL in their post? Allen couldn't possibly be afraid that everyone will rush to the OT and not post in the other sections, eh?

Give me a good reason for such a rule and I'll understand. But until then...still shaking my head.

And seeing as how you've been around here for awhile, you should know that post count numbers are meaningless when it comes to credibility.

Kim is right, Allen doesn't need to justify rules, but this one is justifiable.

There are a hell of a lot of people that sign up on this forum just to post links, etc. By making people contribute before posting links he weeds out those who just come in to spam the place. A lot less work - a lot less storage, bandwidth, etc and so forth. We also don't have to spend our time wading through reams of trash posts before finding the real posts. It's a very good rule. You were able to get your point across without a link, eh? We are smart enough to be able to type that into our browsers if we are interested.

It's the same with a rule for pm's. There is nothing more frustrating than finding an pm box loaded down with advertisements. Then it takes time to report them - takes Allen and crew time to delete them, etc.

There are hundreds of alternatives to eBay, perhaps even hundreds of thousands of auction sites if you count the private teeny weeny ones. Also millions more so-called "auction" sites are nothing more than afilliate sites in disguise. You just can't beat the name recognition and traffic found at eBay. There are also many other IM forums, but nothing even come close to WF. Just get over it.

Well, sort of. Like a lot of WF users I read a lot of threads where I contribute
nothing, so there are a lot of silent contributors who only make their
      presence known ocassionally.

Personally I take not of quality thinking more than post count, which climbs
pretty quickly for Warriors who banter here and post a lot of WSOs.

Allen is very tolerant of link-posting in threads, not spamming, but if
a link makes sense it usually stays. Good policy - and people don't
      abuse the privilege much.

The bottom line is its his forum and he can make any rule he wants.
You can participate or not, thats your choice, but he doesn't have to explain or justify any of the rules if he doesn't so choose.
I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but the fact that something doesn't make sense is just the way of the world.

    Hi Star69:

Hope you are well tonight. I joined today and actually found out from your post about the 15 rule. While in an optimum world the rule would be case by case (as you pointed out there are many that are not attempting to spam, only educate and promote) because so many people in the past joined all sorts of forums and starting promoting without introducing themselves the good people have to pay a temporary price.

Don't get frustrated. Reply to posts that interest you and can help others.

    We'll both get there.

Sorry Star69 I forgot to answer your question:

There is a site called EBID that at one time (it may still be the case) had lower fees but please be aware of an interesting fact. Unlike almost any company in the universe EBAY has been able to prevent a number 2 competitor from ever taking hold. If you read the stats over the years EBAY (a shame) has more bids and members than the other sites combined. Even Coke has Pepsi and Hertz and Avis, etc.

If you are interested in buying or selling or researching items on EBAY please think of the advantage of the exposure vs the disadvantages of getting lost in the shuffle and the fees.

Always contact people that you trust that are using EBAY and not going to tell you something because they have something to gain. If friends and family have had good or bad experiences why not use them as a sounding board?

Once again I'm sorry I forgot to answer your question the first time around!

Welcome to the Warrior Forum, Craig, and thanks to all.

Sal, thanks for giving me something that makes sense. True, if spammers had to make a minimum number of posts on a forum before being able to include a link, most will simply go on to the next forum and do their dirty work elsewhere. That makes sense.

When I wrote "Give me a good reason for this rule and I'll understand..." I wasn't demanding that Allen Says explain anything to me. I owes me nothing. Sal gave me a good reason for it, and though it's a pain in the butt, I now understand the need for such a rule. On the face of it it appears a bit ridiculous, but actually, if it helps keep the spammers away, it's worth it to have it.

So anyone wondering about why there is a 15 post minimum before you can incude a URL in your posts, there ya go.

    Thanks again, Sal.
